Signed Sealed Delivered, I'm yours!!!

Sunday, November 09, 2008

Regardless of one's politics, since Tuesday's election, there is hope and optimism in our country once again. For far too long, we have been holding our collective breaths until the calendar reached January 20, 2009 -- hoping, praying, with fingers and toes crossed, that nothing catastrophic would happen in the interim. With the economic downturn and its value currently at subterranean levels, at least there is no place to go but up!!

My politics has been innocuous and apathetic at best, even though my career of many years was in law (which makes that statement all the more curious!!). Having said that, I wanted to leave the world a better place than I found it -- and not just in talk but in deed. There are many ways to affect change and I accepted the challenge by volunteering for my very first primary and general campaigns. For me, the primary and presidential campaigns were less about politics than it was about preserving and elevating the human race. As an American, I am well aware of the animus and our diminished standing in the world ... It is not something I choose to ponder or debate for I feel, sadly, it is not unwarranted... I also know that as a country, as a people, we are better than all of that and, in the space of possibility, we will one day be a shining example, a beacon of hope ... a bright light of what could be .... not only for the American people, but for all people throughout the world. During times of strife and turmoil it is easy to remember that a lot more unites us than separates us...

However, I am reminded that all of this must first begin at home -- and it is incumbent upon us individually, and collectively as a people, that we care for one another as we would ourselves. I have the added blessing of including my Spark friends to my list of friends in whose lives I am honored and humbled to be a part of …. to hopefully make a difference just as they have done with me; selflessly, lovingly and unquestioningly. They are from all corners of the world -- Shell from Washington State, Michela from Canada, Helen and Linda from the United Kingdom, Angela from New Zealand, and Sri from Malaysia. Although we all came together at various points along our journeys, each of us share in the hope and dreams for a new day… a new beginning. It is in the spirit of hope, in the space of possibility, to mySelf and my Spark friends, that I will continue to listen without judgment or condition; to believe in one another where we once only dared to dream; to stand tall in our personal truth with honesty and integrity; to accept, love and honor one another as we learn to accept, love and honor ourselves... It is all of this, and more, that today I recommit to me -- and you!!!

I believe Its the Cycle of Chaos and Order. Without Chaos there can't be order or there cant be order without chaos. These two forces are always fighting, for balance. This rule applies to everything in life... It's somewhat like the constant battle to fight our demons in our thoughts, sometimes we fail and sometimes we overcome and prevail. Kinda like our weight loss journey! We may fail several times before we actually get it right. That's the path of Balance.

Hi! I'm glad I dropped in and read your blog. All that you've said is so very true. What a wonderful world it would be if everyone could accept each other for who/what we are and not judge or push our beliefs upon each other. I always enjoy your posts and this was no exception. Thanks,
    Di

I want to join with all the others and say, "Amen". It's been a long time coming. But I feel an inexplicable joy and belief that this is the man. The leader who is bringing us up, getting our focus on the good and positive challenges we can really sink our teeth in. We are mighty, we are strong, we are united.

I know that America did not take this turn for the worse overnight and we will not overcome it in a year, but I think we will become that shining city on the hill for all to see, with Barack as our fearless leader. He will bring the changes needed to help our ailing country. We CAN do it!

Love what you had to say today and enjoyed your saying it. I think we are going to go in a new direction. It will take a very long time to correct the damage that has been done but we will get there one day at a time.

Dearest Joanne: I'd really like to see more of your writing on the blog as they are always so well written and filled with useful lessons, insights and thoughts. (More than once a month.) I like that you write when you have something to say. To quote Frank Rich in the New York Times: "The festive scenes of liberation that Dick Cheney had once imagined for Iraq were finally taking place — in cities all over America."

"The long national nightmare is (again) over. We are the ***United*** States. Any mistake that Obama makes will be better than anything the present Administration has done. Viva La America." Change is now! Again thanks for your good thoughts. As always, thanks for all you do. emoticon emoticon

So true, honey; with each passing day I understand more and more that it REALLY does take a village! Though our standing has diminished some, and yes at our own hand, we still are that beacon to more than not! If only everyone could be infected in the way you affect so many...what a wonderful world it would be! Thank you.

I just returned from Europe and it is wonderful how the world has responded to Obama. They seem him as promoting security and peace in the world. As a Canadian I am very happy to see him as the next president.
