Sickness interfering with exercise

Monday, November 03, 2008

I don't know how many of you out there has caught the bug that's going around but I have and it's really frustrating me. I've been sick now for 2 weeks and I haven't felt up to exercising. It's very hard to feel like exercising when your head pounds, your nose runs, and you cough your head off.

I dread sleep time because as soon as I lay down I start coughing and it lasts for about 2 hours so it's also affecting my sleep. I've taken everything I can think of at night to stop the coughing but nothing seems to work.

I finally broke down and filled the prescriptions that the doctor gave me last Monday. I currently don't have insurance so I knew the prescriptions would be expensive and they were. It cost me $150 and I still coughed my head off last night. I'm hoping that the situation is better tonight simply because of all the money I spent yesterday.

It's not fair to those that don't have insurance to have to pay full price for prescriptions simply because over-the-counter medications aren't strong enough to cure a cold. Does anyone feel this way?

I saw that you needed support in the team huddle,so I decided to stop by.
I too have been sick with a miserable cold, now in week two of it. I also do not have insurance.
Not being able to exercise really bummed me out, knowing it is essential to reach my goals and only being in week three on SP. I tried doing the strength training exercises but even those were impossible.
So I decided to focus on the nutrition tracker and kept drinking my water.

The truth is we did not choose a program that guaranteed fast results, had us eating bland foods from boxes or taking pills for a miraculous hard body in twelve weeks.

You and I decided we wanted to get healthy and lose weight and have it stick for a lifetime. So we take a small change every week making it a part of our lives and it will add up to better health.

The cold will pass. Let your body rest and heal itself. Meanwhile find some visual pictures to hang around. I am amazed that some pics of people I don't know actually help to keep focused for the long run.

As for the costs of meds...don't get me started.
But I finally broke down and bought Mucinex DM ($25), it has cleared a lot of the congestion and made it much easier to sleep.

    This too shall pass,
    Whitney
