No more sports for me.

Okay, I try to be a good sport and participate in all activities when needed. But, I've come to the conclusion that sports just aren't my thing. My activity is usually confined to workout DVDs, the treadmill, or plain old fashioned walking. These exercises have helped me get in shape before and seem to be working to get me back into shape now. They are things that I truly enjoy.
Sports like softball, kickball, volleyball, basketball and such, however, only ever seem to lead to me saying, "OUCH!" In these cases, I make a better spectator and cheerleader than participant. Every time I have chosen to play I've suffered an injury. For example, I played volleyball on an intramurals team in college and broke my finger; I played "capture the flag" with my daughter's fourth grade class and pulled a muscle in my rear-end. I played kickball at youth group and pulled the same muscle. And, most recently, I enjoyed an afternoon BBQ/Softball game and pulled that muscle all over again. It doesn't take much to figure out that I am no athlete.
The lesson here is that I'm just not cut out for jumping and diving and running and chasing balls. So is my lesson learned? Probably not, like I said earlier, I like to be a good sport and play when an extra player is needed. But, I know I'll be thinking twice before trying to join the fun just because it looks like fun. My muscles need to stay intact.
