Wow....I feel great!!!!

It has been quite some time since I have really taken care of myself and gotten my hair cut. My husband was unemployed, so that was one of the first indulgences to go (the lady I go to is kind of expensive, but WELL worth it). Since he is back to work now, I decided to book an appointment after he got his first check. I took a couple photos of me that had the hair style I wanted. After shampooing and getting me in the chair, she noticed that she was going to be cutting quite a bit off. She pulled out a tape measure...I had NO clue why she was measuring my hair....She told me that I had enough to donate to Locks of Love. I said go for it. My hair ended up a little shorter than I wanted it, but it was well worth the cause. She sent me home with my 12 inch long ponytail and the website to get the information for sending it off.
I just about cried when I pulled up the site and saw the stories of the children that the hair is donated for. If I can stand growing my hair out that long again, I will definitely do it again. It made me feel so good to be able to help like I did.
The next day I worked on a Habitat for Humanity house. I'll do it again next year too.

What a cooincidence! I just did the same thing on saturday after I ran the race for the cure I went and had my hair cut and donated too! It's a great contribution to someone in need! IT 's actually been a part of my weight loss plan after I lost 50 pounds to "rewared" myself with a "real" haircut again....love your new "do"! You look fabulous! I should have pics up by tomorrow.

It is a truly wonderful feeling isn't it. I did this a year ago. I started growing my hair after my cancer surgery 10/9/06 and had 11.5 inches cut off in November of 2007. I have thought about doing it again except I really love my current hair cut.

God is smiling at the child or children that will be happy to have a real hair wig to help them deal with cancer and YOU were the one who made that smile happen! I can't imagine a better way to help kids than to help them deal with a deadly disease that also steals their self confidence because they lose their hair! It's tough enough to be a kid without looking different than everyone else!! May God bless your Healthy Journey & lead you to a fruitful and happy life.

I donated for the first time earlier this year. I donated 20 inches. I remember going in and being scared but knowing it was what I wanted to do. This woman asked me if I was sure I wanted to cut it and I sat there shaking but as soon as they cut my ponytail off I was thrilled.
