Workout class with 60 Tanzanians

This week I taught the book of Galatians, which is one of my favorite books of the bible to teach. The afternoon class is typically harder to teach, because it is after a carb laden lunch that the Bible College students are fed. The first day, I looked at the weary eyes of the students and decided I had to do something.
I can't change the food they eat, but I can have an influence on their energy level. Wednesday, I came equiped with my notes, a DVD machine, and one of my workout DVDs. I taught for 90 minutes and then told the students after a 10 minute break I would be downstairs where there is a huge empty space.
Soooooooooooooooo, all the students came. I showed them a few minutes of the Biggest loser testimony section with one of the Biggest Loser contestants. He was huge in the beginning and in the 5 minutes we watched, he lost a huge amount of weight. They were all OOOing and Ahhhhing.
Then we did two of the workouts: The 20 minute high intensity and weight training workout for a total of 40 minutes. Most of them stayed.
They were really happy and asked for another class the next day, so I decided to bring Billy Blank's Teibo advanced workout. I don't have many of his on DVD. All of the beginner workouts I have of his are on video and I had to use a mini DVD player.
You know you are in Africa when, 60 students can somehow see a 6 inch mini player and workout. The sound was nearly impossible to hear, but I know the workout and there were a few very sharp students who followed the exercise even better than I could imagine.
The ladies were all in dresses which looked a little funny, but they were moving. By the end of the hour of kickboxing, there were only about 20 students left. They were all drenched and we were all "high-fiving" each other. It was lots of fun.
My sleep was better this week. I also seemed to have settled with the weight I have lost. I will always have slight fluctuations since I weigh daily, but the high number is now at the 100 kilo mark=220 pounds, which is my goal that I set for a reward to go to Nairobi. I am there and my next goal is to get down to 209 by the end of the year. I believe I can do this.
I am very happy that I made my goal. People are making comments on my weight loss almost daily. It totally motivates me to stay on target!
Don and the team leave this Friday. I will be alone for 3 weeks. That is typically the time I can really focus on my food and fitness. I will also have a lot more time to connect with my SP friends. I can't wait.
