What an amazing week I have had!!!!

Wednesday, October 01, 2008

Ok, I'm going to pretend my week started on Saturday when I ran in my first 5K!!! I did it and I finished it, but I did not enjoy it. My girlfriend Julie joined me and walked it. It was pouring rain the whole time and fairly cold, the start was delayed an hour, there were 9 hills and I got lost! :-) BUT, I finished it. It took me nearly 45 minutes, but that's ok. It was my first one and I was babying my ankle so I wouldn't hurt it any more.

Sunday morning I woke up and ran a quarter of a mile and walked a quarter of a mile to re-calibrate my Nike+ sensore. Later on I had a great workout with my trainer, and my friend Julie joined me!

Monday, I ran my Week 9 Day 2 run and I felt like the slowest and heaviest being on the planet. I ached all over, BUT, again, I completed it and I am happy.

Then we come to Tuesday. I had my Dr appointment to get the results from my 6 week blood draw to see if I would have to be put on Cholesterol medication. When I started Sparkpeople (the day of my appointment when I found out I had high cholesterol) my cholesterol was 253. After following the calorie counts and exercising like a crazy woman I got my blood drawn again in the middle of September. My Dr called me and wanted me to come in on the 30th of September. SOooo, I was nervous. She went over again how my other numbers were fantastic, but the cholesterol was bad. Then she got a big smile smile on her face. My new cholesterol test was 181!!!!!! That's a drop of over 70 points in 6 weeks! I am estatic. I can't remember a time when I have been this happy about something other than when my husband proposed to me and our wedding day! This is a BIG deal. I am SO proud of myself.

I told my trainer at my workout Tuesday night and he was super excited for me too. I was so giddy I couldn't even remember the order of the exercises in each set and I felt great at the end! I don't think there is much that can dampen my joy this week, even though the Ravens lost on Monday night...

It is GOOD to be alive. The scale may say I've only lost 5 lbs, but I'd rather have the cholesterol victory than the lbs.

Thank you all so much for inspiring me to stick with it and not give up!

I am so proud of you! What a great week =) No wonder you are giddy. Congrats on your first 5K. Mine is in a month and I am already a nervous wreck. I sometimes get anxiety with crowds and the whole vision of running toward a crowd , in probably last place, is really spazzing me out. But I am signed up and am going to do it anyway. As for your cholesterol, that is truly amazing! Congratulations on all your accomplishments and keep up the great work! emoticon
