Kinda bummed

Last weekend I walked the MS Challenge walk which was 50 miles in 3 days. While I'm very proud of the fact that I was able to do this I gained 3 lbs.! Every time I step on the scale it makes me cringe. I really want to be 130 by November 1st and I'm feeling bummed because of those 3 lousy pounds. I'm still recuperating from the walk and am still really tired. Once I feel up to it again I'm going to start exercising again. I need advice and encouragement!

    I agree, you shouldn't go by the scale. Muscle does weigh more than fat. If your clothes are fitting better and you are feeling better, that should count more.
    And congrats on walking 50 miles. That's great!! Keep it up. emoticon

    Wow, you walked 50 miles!!!! Holy Cow, that's Great!!!

    I'm thinking the 3lbs. you gained could be muscle. I heard that when you walk you may not see results on the scale, and if you see a increase its more than likely to be muscle. After walking 50 last weekend I would guess that is what it is you are seeing!

    Maybe instead of looking for results on the scale, look for it in your clothes, or take your measurements. When you lose fat that's where you see the results.

    Ok - you asked for advice : Stop looking at the scale! It can be very deceiving. Muscle does weigh more than fat. Ok - so, you have been working out eating right, etc. You lose 5 pounds of fat -BUT- you gain more muscle, so the scale may go up, even though you really did lose fat.

    I know the number on the scale can really be frustrating. Try not to let it be your only guide. Are you feeling better? More energy? Clothes fitting better, or way too large? What about measurements, BMI, etc.

    Do not stress over a few pounds on the scale. You are doing a great job - and are well on your way!! Keep it up!
