Remembering 9-11-01

Thursday, September 11, 2008

We pause to remember what happened on September 11th, 2001.

May we never forget those who lost their lives that day, the reason they died and how it happened, lest we fail as Americans.

A Day of Fear
©KLH 9/11/01

A day of fear
A day of death
The horrors unfold
before a nation that cries.
How could this happen?
Our lives never the same
No longer in peace.

This hatred that breeds
terror is cruel,
they attacked us within.
Loss of family and friends
even total strangers
We unite
Our country pulled together
in a time of great strife.

Healing is needed,
Great strength as well.
A Nation in mourning
As the world looks on.

Together we cry, pray and try to cope.
Unable to express,
Our confusions and fears
Sorrow for a country,
A nation under attack.

Hate has bred this,
Hate is our enemy,
Let us not become haters ourselves.
As a nation we must
pull together as humans.
Not black or white,
Christian or Islamic,
Tolerance is a must
to heal our wounds.

Wounds caused by hate,
By hate will not heal.
Our spirits are crying,
as our kin are dying.

May peace be achieved
and healing began.
For scars will last,
And our world
Never the same.

We will never forget the loss of life.
We should never forget the victims, both living and dead. The survivors of the attacks of Sept 11th should not be forgotten on this day and every day as well, for they bear the scars of this attack personally.
The innocent who lost their innocence on that day 7 years, yet a lifetime ago. We honor you, today.
In a way, we are all victims as well. Not personally but most of us saw the images play out live as the attacks occurred before live television.
We have all lost a bit of our innocence and our freedoms, as we live in a world post Sept 11, 2001.
Let us not forget who those who suffered were.

Hug someone you love or at least tell them how much they mean to you as they/you leave for work/school/wherever. You never know when life will take them away from you.
