Running to work and back yesterday

Tuesday, September 09, 2008

I haven't done the work and back run in a long time. It is a 16.2 mile round trip. I start at 5AM and it usually takes me an hour. I am very reflective and lite up with blinkie lights so that all can see me in the dark. The traffic is non-existant at that time of the morning. It was a tough run to work. Felt sluggish - maybe it's was becasue of the hard workout Sunday. But, I made it to work in 1 hour.

The rest of the day my left shin and knees hurt. Really hurt. I was worried that I would have to bum a ride home. I don't know what was going on. Took an 800 Motrin at lunch and that seemed to help. Also did some stretching.

Started to run home at 3PM. It was warm, but not unbearable, but that didn't matter as I had to get home. A mile into it for some reason knees and left shin felt pretty good. Still, I was worried that it'd start hurting before I arrived home. Well, they didn't for which I was very happy about. Did ice the knees and did a lot of stretching so hopefully everything will stay good.

later,
Wes
