My reasons for change

One of my SparkFriends, NewButterfly76, posted a great blog entry for today. It asks us to view our reasons for change & to affirm how important they are to you & your family. I've maintained for almost a year so I haven't given too much thought as to why I want to change. For me to reach GW, I need to know why, so I can get through those days I want to quit or think all the hard work's not worth it.

My reasons for change:
- Hood to Coast 2009
- The Run Like Hell 1/2 marathon on October 19th. It's my first!
- To prove to myself I can reach my goals
- For my health & quality of life, now in & in the future
- To identify less with my "fat self identity" & more with my new athletic, veggie, yogini identity.

These resonate with me because they touch on my spiritual inner life as well as the physical, outer aspect. They also reflect my commitment to my husband, who is also active & wants the best health for me as possible. Chronic diseases run rampant on both sides of my family & people often die prematurely. If they live past 60, quality of life tends to be poor. DH & I want to live long, happy, healthful lives!
