Good to be Home

I have been out of town for all or part of the past four weeks, including the past four weekends! I am so ready for some home time! I have learned a lot, however, about myself and my eating habits when I am on the road. While travelling, I will eat out of boredom and healthy choices aren't always available. For example, in the airport between flights it is so tempting to just go to the food court for fast Chinese food. It fills the time and it fills the gut ... and I enjoy it as it is something I don't get very often. Then over the weekend I bought the kids Pringles for the car ride. Once again, I never buy this stuff, but made an exception for the car ride. Well, of course, I had to have my "Mommy - tax" of 10 chips on that can of Pringles. Now that I see how many calories those 10 chips have, I don't think I'll do that again. If it was only the chips, it would be ok. But there seem to be lots of little 'it doesn't count' type snacks while I am travelling. I always gain weight from travelling, and I had thought that a lot of it is just bloating ... water-weight. But now I am realizing that I need to do some advance food planning and be extra careful about my food choices while I am on the road.
I'm home now until Labor Day weekend ... then it is off to NY again to see my parents for the long weekend. My goal for the next 2 weeks is to feel settled and secure in my home eating routines and to plan ahead for our trip in 2 weeks.
