It has taken me a while to truly grasp the concept of creating a calorie deficit. I understood that in order to lose weight you must expend more calories than you consume, but I don't think I saw the big picture. I focused on each individual day without really understanding how things added up weekly or monthly.
I recently started tracking my calorie deficits. This has helped me tremendously. I am less likely to go way over my daily intake because I know I will not just affect one day, it will affect the whole week.
Also, tracking my calorie deficit has pushed me in the gym. I am less likely to slack off for a few days because I know it will make it all that harder to reach my goal for the week. It has really helped me with consistency in my diet and exercise habits.
The past two weeks, my deficits have added up to the equivalent of 1.14 and 1.07 pounds respectively. For me, this is quite a lot since I have been averaging less than half a pound a week in the past. I haven't weighed myself to confirm whether or not this is accurate yet. I hope it is!
