Now I Know...I CAN

I never had to lose weight before. I gained some weight my freshman year of college, but it came off naturally when I moved away from the dorms (and the cafeterias.)

Although it is disappointing that I now have to watch what I eat, I also feel empowered that I have learned how to manage my weight. Over the past eight months, I have developed the tools needed to control my diet. I know what normal meals look like and I know what a decent workout looks like.

Now I know I can do it! I hope that once I reach my goal weight, I can stop tracking calories (eventually) and maintain without vigilance. But if I slide back up, maybe not right away but surely at some point(s) in my life, I know what to do to make the scale go back down. That is a GREAT feeling.

I also know just how much work it takes to lose a few pounds. That knowledge alone will hopefully keep me from gaining another 15 pounds without noticing. I can lose weight again if I have to, but I'd much rather maintain what I've got!
