Struggling

Saturday, July 19, 2008

My husband had a colonoscopy this past Thursday. This is the second one in three months. They have been watching a polpy and this time it has grown and no matter what the bioposy comes back as he has to have surgery. We won't know any details, when, what kind of surgery, where until Aug 6th when we go back to see the surgeon (the day after the colonoscopy he left for vacation). I have been on an eating frenzy since then!! I know better, I know if I would exercise that would really make me feel better. I'm not even hungry, I just eat. Why do I do this?

Hello Nola...I said a prayer for you and your husband and I'll keep on. The best and only thing I can do! Hang in there with the eating...you've come this far girl and you're not gonna quit now. You're probably already back on track !
    Take care of you! Eva

    Hi Nola,
I am SO sorry that you are going through all of this with your husband's health!

It's funny, sometimes it's easier if the health problem and anticipated surgery is OURS instead of someone we LOVE. I have been through the wringer with my husband's health too, so I have a pretty good idea how you feel. I've eaten my way through many a crisis as well!

y eating is so self-harming. Just when we need to be at our best, we clog our bodies and our minds with unhealthy foods and unhealthy amounts of the good ones. It puts us in a fog- all that blood going to our digestive tract instead of our brain! Maybe it will help you break the cycle if you consider how much your hubby needs your support right now (no matter how much he denies it because he is a "Manly Man!") You need to be at your best to be there for him, as well as yourself. This is a difficult time. Maybe even extra stress vitamins wouldn't hurt.

Try taking a deep, cleansing breath, and then resolving to be at your best through this difficult time, not only for yourself, but for your husband too. Then you can look back on it knowing that you didn't set yourself back on your goals and health, and you didn't hide behind food when your husband needed you either!

(Anyway, that's what has worked for me) emoticon
