Allie's Eye Problem

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

Allie (my daughter) had to get some shots yesterday, and while she was there, Beth (my wife) asked about how one of her eyes doesn't exactly open all the way all the time - it sorta looks like she's squinting slightly. Anyway, the doc says he "doubts it's something to worry about, but we'll set up an appointment with a baby eye dr anyway." The appointment is set, and is about 2 months away. All is fine, and everything will be fine. This leads me to my next point...

This is one of the things everyone learns about having kids, you worry about them even when there probably isn't any need to worry about them. Normally, you deal with stuff like "oh, she's crying, she must need something" and you run through your checklist - try to feed her (nope, not hungry), change her (nope, nothing there), try to get her to sleep (AH! she was tired), and the problem is fixed. Short-term problems are's much more difficult with problems that involve more waiting and unknowns, even though they rarely happen. And thankfully in this case, there probably isn't anything to worry about. I'll probably keep worrying anyway...
