Getting Back with the Program

Sunday, July 06, 2008

Boy, life sure comes in and really finds ways to disrupt our plans to lose weight! My personal "sleep challenge" for May came at a time when my daughter was going through a lot of changes, both socially and developmentally, and as her response, she was waking up several times every night. This went on until about 2 weeks ago.

Thankfully, she seems to be back to her sleep schedule. When I don't get enough sleep, I just can't get motivated to exercise at 5 in the morning, which is the only time I have available to do it. Additionally, when I'm exhausted, I lose my ability to think about good things to eat and certainly don't want to deprive myself.

So really for the last month and a half I've really fallen off the wagon and, though I haven't stepped on a scale, I'm sure I've gained back about 5 pounds. (My clothes let me know.) I've had other stressors that have contributed to my disinterest in trying to lose this extra weight, but I'm done with making excuses. I'm ready to get back in the game :)

This month, I'm not making any grand challenges for myself - I'm just going to get back to my good routines.
