Love your neighbor as yourself

Sunday, July 06, 2008

I was thinking about that scripture. How manyof us use that scripture to preach about how we should love each other??? It is very easy to forget about the part that says we love them "AS" we love ourselves.

It takes courage to finally take the steps necessary to do this. To finally do something differently than before. To begin to eat healthy and exercise. To say, "no" to junk foods most of the time. All of this is loving ourselves.

God loved us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus to die for us. That love is incredible. Don't let that love go to waste. Love yourself enough to do what you know will help you live longer.

It brings glory to God every time we eat right. It brings glory to God each time we take the step to exercise everyday. I want to finally find the courage to love myself so I can love others better.

We are not yet where we will be, but because of that, we press on. Even when we stumble. I will find the strength today to do what I know to do. Some days that seems impossible. Those are the days I must look to Him, the Author and Finisher of our faith. He who created us, knows the key to getting us through this race.

Hello, Mary, I have not forgotten you, either! I was away for a week doing company training in Fort Worth, TX. It was a good course with a lot of intense learning and I came back exhausted. I enjoy reading your blog - this entry was particularly touching as I was reminded about how we need to remember to care for ourselves if we are to be any good at caring for others. Burn out is not a pretty sight - and not what God wants for us, either. We are valued as His very own children. Thanks for the good reminder!

wow - this really spoke to me. I'm treating everyone much better than I ever treat myself - or I was doing that. I'm much better now...but I have a long way to go.

    Thanks for the reminder!

Thanks for the love yourself reminder. I agree it is an issue all women have. If we loved ourselves as much as we loved everyone else, we would be stronger! emoticon
