What are you doing "right" in your life? Parents are often urged to "catch" their kids "being good" and reinforce the behavior by praising them for it. Can we learn to show the same kindness to ourselves? I have been drinking my 8 glasses of water every day now for 2 months. This is a major lifestyle change for me, because I HATE water unless I'm just dying of thirst! I'd rather go without fluid at all than drink water. But ya know, I'm beginning to get used to the routine of imbibing the stuff, and I have to confess that I've seen some positive changes I can attribute to it...sleeping through the night without getting up several times to go to the bathroom...who would have thought THAT would be a result?? lessened dairy craving...that's a biggie that could have all kinds of ramifications. I LOVE anything that used to be "Cow"...ice cream, cheese, yogurt, milk, sour cream, steak, hamburger, leather...some branch or other of my family has raised cattle for generations, and while I have a healthy affection and respect for the critters, I am not at all inclined to become a vegan or even seriously vegetarian. I like fruits and vegetables...just not exclusively.

I'm so grateful to those of you who "tune in" to my musings here. It is a great encouragement and motivator for me. Thanks. Be good to yourselves today!

    After increasing my water intake to at least 10 cups a day, over time I've noticed that my complexion has gotten better. I no longer get pimples before TOM.

    That is a major feat if you don't even like the stuff! Congrats on your positive change!

    I have to say that i realized the importance of water after a time not having much - I was eating veggies and fruit, but only 2 cups of coffee daily this winter during our (famous to us) ice storm. I became dehydrated and my kidney function was apparently impaired (per blood labs - I had NO idea!) -- actually - I found on the net after-the-fact that a hollow toenail bed is a sign of dehydration -- I thought it was cause I purchased new shoes or something! Anyway - it could have been serious. It helps cellular function to be hydrated and also it's good for your blood pressure.

    You are right. It is so much easier to spendlots of energy belittling or nagging ourselves than to take the time to say an atta girl.
