Getting Ready

Thursday, June 26, 2008

Well, I am basically packed for my trip to Taiwan. I work all day tomorrow, then we travel 4 hours away on Saturday for Mike's sister's wedding. We spend the night and return Sunday afternoon. That will be my last night with my family for 17 days.

It dawned on me this morning that in my almost 23 years of marriage, I have never been apart from Mike that long!! That sparked a little bit of fear...but i quickly handed that to the Lord.

I have known all along the Lord wanted me on this trip...but I have no idea why!!! My gifts and abilities are with adult women...this is with 1st-5th graders! This is in Asian culture...with giant, crowded cities...I prefer African, laid back culture. I prefer to be with my husband, and this is without him. I hate to fly (even to Malawi my trip is in three flights: 8 hours, 9 hours, and 3 hours)...this one is 4 hour flight to LA, then 14 hours directly to Taipei!!! I believe there is a reason I am going...so part of my 'mission' is to watch closely and see what God teaches me.

So, I ask for your prayers: prayer that God is glorified in all we do. And that I will see and learn what the Lord has to teach me. And as my last blog explained...that I obey all that I learn.

In Him,
Michelle

Most time spent in fearing is wasted time...as we later find out. "You will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind stays fixed on You". That verse helped me tremendously throughout my cancer/chemo. I'll let you use it, too!

Your comment about watching to see what God teaches you reminds me of one of my favorite verses, Psalm 5:3 - In the morning, O LORD, Thou wilt hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to Thee and eagerly watch (NASB).
    Praying for you, my sister!

God's blessings on your williness to obey Him. Hubby & I were apart for 17 days when he went to Papau New Guinea. This was extremely hard on us and we made a commitment to never be apart like that again. (I guess if God came right out and told us different we would really have to rely on Him.) I pray that you will be blessed beyond blessings during this trip. Just remember, you're flopping with the mop.
