Having No A/C May Be Beneficial

Ok, so I am now completing one whole month without an air conditioner in the house. As I said on a previous blog, it frizzed out. So I bought plenty of fans, which were luckily on sale at Target. So my kids and I sleep with 4 fans surrounding us.
That's great for the night time because, you know, the body cools when relaxed. But during the day, when the fans are just circulating the same hot air, I sweat like a pig stuck out in the Sahara Desert.
That icky, sticky feeling made me lie in front of the fan all day (plus the fact that gas is so high that I didn't want to hop in my car to go somewhere cool-- including the gym). I usually drink about 8 glasses of water a day but due to the no a/c thing I've been consuming tons more and ice. But I did virtually nothing for a month but write and read-- in front of the fans all day (when I was home). Then at night I became active.
After two weeks or so of this and no gym, I got on the scale. I was scared to see what damage I'd done. I looked down at the number between my feet, anticipating the worse. I lost 1.6 pounds. I stood still, shock paralyzing my body. Then I got off. Tapped the scale with my toe and waited until it zero-ed out. Then I stepped back on. The number read the same. I got off with the biggest smile.
I repeated the weigh-in a week later, thinking for sure the no gym thing was costing me. But no, the scale showed another 1.2 pounds lost. What?!?
Then this week, I've been walking all over my class and the school, getting release signatures, grading finals, and packing, which means walking back and forth to my car. So I got on the scale this morning. I am down to 251lbs. I AM ELATED! ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY ECSTATIC!
I'd put that my start weight was 267 lbs. When I went to the gym they told me it was 271, but I mentally disagreed with her due to the haste in which the girl was taking my measurements-- and I'd just eaten. I weigh in the morning after my bathroom visit but before my shower. So I'm sticking to 267.
My goal after I set such a huge one ( and bombed it) was to get down to 250 by June. I'm soooo close. With me going to Europe on Wednesday and the INSANE amount of walking we're going to do on that tour (not to mention the intense heat of Italy and Greece), I know I'm going to meet, and maybe exceed, my goal.
How cool is that?
