@#$% migraines

Thursday, June 05, 2008

I'm in another prolonged migraine event.

I've avoided it long enough and am now willing to try a medication that my doc recommended back in January (it can cause liver problems). This is a daily medication, not one to take just at the onset of symptoms.

I think a recent weight gain and my lack of ability to participate in many recent social events has helped with the decision.

I can't exercise with any frequency or intensity when my head and face are constantly pounding. Staying home all the time depresses me, which makes everything worse (including my food and drink choices).

So, enough of the negativity. I'll track my migraines while on the meds & my energy & mood.

I deserve a happy, healthy life migraine-free and at goal weight! Perhaps this will be another tool to help me get there.

I also suffer from migraines - mostly hormonal - but occasionally caused by wine. Its not consistent enough that I would change my wine consumption, but I do pay attention. When I first was diagnosed I kept a food/activity diary of what I was doing, eating, drinking, other meds, etc. There was some correlation with certain combinations that was a factor that I made changes to. Ultimately it was not a problem for me to make the decision to take meds when the onset of a migraine comes on. I don't have time to be "down" for a headache. Good luck!

I used to get cluster migraines that could last for fun! Good luck with the medication.

Sorry about your migraine trouble. I've been there (short lived, but painful!) and know how it disrupts all areas of your life. Best wishes for a quick return to headache fee life.

I hope that your new meds help you - you shouldn't have to go on like this.
