Healthy Eating I

Included in those goals was a renewed effort for healthy living. I got off to a rather slow start. My motivation was low. Then I read an article here on sp that made a world of difference. (I can't find it now.) I wanted to eat healthy, but I was determined not to feel hungry or deprived. The article had some suggestions for controlling you appetite. The suggestion that helped me was to eat a bowl of soup before dinner. I extended this idea to include a salad. The idea is to eat something healthy and low in calories first and you will eat less of the higher calorie foods in the main meal. It really works!!!

Another idea I employed is to avoid seconds. Put a nice serving on my plate the first time and then stop. If the food is really good, this can be difficult. Occasionally, I need a little more, but most of the time I have found that I really don’t need those seconds. My stomach is shrinking. Even when I don’t employ self control and eat until I am full (usually at restaurants), it is not as much as it used to be.
