Comeback Kid

Hello Sparkpeople,

I am an original, true-blue, comeback kid. I want to thank a Sparker for getting me back on track. That would be Jibbie 49. Out of the blue, Jibbie49 mailed me a note and asked me to come back. I have been out of Sparkpeople for at least 6 months.

I believe that Jibbie49 is an answer to a prayer. I looked up her blog and found out that she is an inspiration to others as well. What motivated me is that she is just a few years older than I am and has faithfully logged on for 200 + days. That's commitment. She's also lost 33 pounds. Way to go.

I am at my highest weight. I now weight186.8 pounds. I know that I am an emotional eater. What I am starting to do is to walk. I have walked for 4 days straight now, and I will continue to do so.

I find that walking with a buddy really helps. It seems that I can do anything as long as I have a friend with me. The problem was that since we moved to this place, I haven't made too many friends. I prayed about it, and God has been good to send me not only one, but several walking buddies. They are very supportive.

Jibbie49 told me about Shrink Yourself, a book which focuses on emotional eating. I have ordered that book and I plan to use that knowledge to help me make this "comeback" realistic and positive. I know that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Hope there are others out there who are "Comeback Kids" like me. Just remember, in all of the movies and books, those "Comeback Kids" come back as winners :)

    Good for you for coming back, and good luck with the walking. I try to walk every day, but always do better when someone is with me. you don't notice how far you're going if you're chatting do you?

    I'm glad you ordered the book as I have found it a real help. I've used a YELLOW MARKER and have marked in it like a Textbook.
    I'm glad you have found some people to walk with. I see people walk by my house and have thought about just going out and stopping them and asking if they'd like a buddy, but I usually go with my daughter. I ride my bike and she runs two miles.
    This is a DAILY effort that each and every morning you need to get up and say you are starting NEW. That is what I do. emoticon
