How to Balance it All?

Monday, February 11, 2008

I'm having difficulty balancing my everyday responsibilities with exercise. Here lately, I've been too busy to exercise in the evenings and too tired to get up and exercise in the mornings. I know that we do make time for what is important to us. I guess I've allowed exercise to take a back burner. Between working, trying to maintain the household and taking the kids to their various activities, I'm no longer a priority. I'm in the process of trying to reorganize my life in an effort to place myself near the top of my list. If I don't take care of myself, I won't be of much benefit to others. Any advice as to how other busy moms efficiently manage their time would be greatly appreciated.

I feel your pain. It is hard to find time to squeeze one more thing into an already busy day. The evenings fly by so quickly that I could not possibly squeeze in a workout. By the time I get home from work and get my son from Karate, it's close to 6. That means it's time to prepare dinner, and get both kids fed, cleaned and ready for bed. So for me, exercise has to be in the early morning. I find that as tired as I may be when I wake up to do my workout, I feel much better afterward. I have more energy throughout the day and generally feel better. It's tough to get myself up, but so worth it once I do.
