I love this outfit; one of my favorites. Can't wait to see how it looks on me in a few months! One of my SparkFriends gave me this idea -- a superhero alter-ego! And a "combat master" at that!week 12 of my streak for "Exercise for at least 90 minutes per week" earned 3/20/2017Good reward: new clothes. Better reward: new workout clothes. Best reward: super geeky new workout clothes. Laughter burns calories too!Been hovering above 20 lb lost for almost 3 weeks now. Needed a reminder of how far I've come - I have 60 more to go. Photos are excellent motivation! It's pictures like this that I always dread - horribly awkward position, looking down, unposed, carrying a child, etc - but I look at this right now and I see progress! A ways to go yet, but getting there!3 week plateau officially busted with my weigh-in this morning. Just a half pound away from 20 lb loss, and I got this happy little trophy. Proud of myself! It's my birthday! The kids are sick and have been keeping me up at night, and I am therefore exhausted, but I am still going to go to the pool for a nice swim during my lunch break so I can enjoy my cake and wine tonight. 38 is going to be a great year -- first 5k (May), first triathlon (July), and hopefully down to an "overweight" BMI this fall. Here goes! day 100 of my streak for "Log in and spin the SparkPoints wheel" earned 4/2/2017I am so proud of my consistency. 21 lb and 5 inches lost. Lots and lots of gains. See my blog for all the other things 100 days on Spark has done for me. :)I have not worn these jeans in 7 years - since before my eldest was born. Zipped them up with ease today. Feeling awesome.I think I am beginning to like running. I'm slow as all get-out, but I did 2.5 miles continuous today, and I actually ENJOYED it. Weird. :) I just wanted to share about this amazing tea -- totally works for my cocoa cravings and it has no added sweeteners or anything artificial. Counts towards water intake too! The Ironman shirts came in today - the silver triangle is for completing the Ironman triathlon distances in 3-4 weeks. I am glad I ordered an L instead of an XL too! :)Here's to getting back on track after just a little too much ham, eggs, Hot cross buns, and chocolate. Found out this weekend that a job I really wanted, and that everyone thought I was a shoo-in for, was not meant to be. First inclination was to dive into the Easter candy. Second inclination was to hit the gym -- the inclination I followed through on. Today I increased my speed on the treadmill and the bike, my weight on deadlifts, and my reps on barbell squats. I may not have total control over getting a new job, but I can have control over my fitness. My current journey started in January, when I was even heavier than the pic from September. But I just bought new jeans and I wanted to see the comparison.Post workout selfie! Today I tried vertical jumps on the encouragement of one of the guys at the Y and surprised myself by jumping solidly onto a 2 foot tall box! Considering I'm only 5'3", that's a pretty good percentage of my height! Feeling tough!I ate a good breakfast (veggie omelette) before my son came down and requested mini donuts. I managed to cook a whole batch and walk away without sampling one. I think it helps that I am already dressed in my workout clothes. In the right mindset.Reduced calorie mini donuts - I cut the sugar in half and swapped half the oil for applesauce. 150cal/4 donuts vs 200 in original recipe and my 6yo still loves them plain! Thinking on trying some flour substitutions next time to make them higher fiber. Finally crossed the mark! 25 lb lost since January 1st!First 5K! Under 40 minutes, ran the whole way! I've come a long way since January!Looking at transformation pictures is amazing, but I think it is also important to remember that we can measure our successes in so many different ways! People don't give themselves enough credit for the small, daily "wins" like tracking all your food, choosing healthier options, or just going for a walk. Every tiny step makes a difference! You may not see it on the scale, or in the mirror, but every choice you make changes you -- make it a change for the better! Gee, can you tell I like eggs? (And all with yolks -- because despite what you have heard, controlled trials have shown that the cholesterol in eggs does not do anything to blood cholesterol levels unless you have diabetes or hypercholesterolemia -- and the yolks are where most of the vitamins and all the omega-3 fatty acids are!) day 150 of my streak for "Log in and spin the SparkPoints wheel" earned 5/22/2017Ahh! I haven't seen the 180s in over eight years!! Almost 30 lb down!week 21 of my streak for "Exercise for at least 90 minutes per week" earned 5/27/2017I started working out in January. I started trying to run at the end of March. I ran my first 5K in the beginning of May. This is me today. So psyched!31 lb down, and I have officially lost the weight of my 3 year old! 3 year old down, 6 year old to go!My favorite jogging trail! Now here's a lovely summer treat - shaved ice drizzled with homemade strawberry syrup (just boil strawberries, water, and sugar to taste, then refrigerate). All natural, fat free, super low cal, and oh so refreshing! My 6yo saw me entering food after dinner and stole my phone. He apparently thinks I am REALLY well hydrated. 😄I bought these cones for my 3 year old, but they work for when I just want a little ice cream. Portion control! 😄We all have our clothing issues - for me it has been pencil skirts. I love the look but always thought I looked too wide. This is my 35 lb loss reward and I feel awesome! From couch potato to triathlete in 7 months! Raced a sprint (500m swim, 20K bike, 5K run) in 2h10m today. I am 38 and have never achieved anything like this before. I started from next to nothing in January. It is possible!Whoo hoo! 40 lb down - about the weight of a 5 gallon water jug!week 30 of my streak for "Exercise for at least 90 minutes per week" earned 7/29/2017Went shopping for back to school clothes today. Last fall, size 20, 1X. Today, size 14, L.When I started running in March, I never would have thought I could do a 10K in August! Ran the whole thing, slow and steady, in 1:16! (It was with a German restaurant, to explain the Tshirt.)Just got back from a week long camping trip in NY. I got WAY off track food wise (it was wine country and my kids were driving me bonkers), but I did manage to get in a few runs by the lake and now I am all set to get back to clean eating! ☺Interesting what losing 20% of your body weight (44 lb) does to your face. My eyes look so much bigger now.I am now down 20% of my body mass since January! If I get down to goal weight, I'll be almost 40% down -- more than halfway there!Just bought a new swimsuit because my others felt huge. It's a little snug because I expect to keep losing, but it fits well enough that I don't look like a sausage. 😄 Last summer (2016) I was a 20, beginning of this summer (2017), I was a 16. Super psyched.Conversation with a woman in Kettlebells class, who I haven't seen for a while: "You look amazing! How much weight have you lost?" "45 lb so far." "Wow! How'd you do it? Low carb? Fasting?" "Nope, I just track and portion. I eat what I want -- just make sure it's good choices and not too much." "Wow, that's awesome! Good for you!" Just wanted to throw a Thank You to SparkPeople and all of you for making it (relatively) easy for me to keep it going!! I love this site and I love all of you! I AM OVERWEIGHT!!! I know BMI is only one metric and not always perfect, but I started this year with a BMI of 38.8 (Obese Class II), and now I am 29.9! So psyched!!!Running another 5K this morning. Race shirt is a bit snug, but I know I'll shrink into it. Excited to be overweight!!50 down, 30 to go! This hangs on the wall of my office. I ran out of chart just as I hit 50 pounds! Made a new one starting with "overweight". Fun to see my progress all in one place! These hang on the wall of my office. Ran out of paper on the first one just as I hit -50 lbs! Neat to see all of my progress in one place.Plateaued a bit lately -- keeping up exercise, but lots of stress is making it hard to keep motivated with tracking. Good to see where I've come from to help me know that even if all I can do is maintain for a bit, I'm doing way better than I was! This is my mantra this time through and it is working -- 10 months in, 52 lbs down. No diet is sustainable if you forbid yourself to occasionally indulge in a craving. Just be accountable! Looking forward to my run today, regardless of how it may look... Last year, I would not have felt comfortable at all in a dress like this. Feeling cute and awesome today. #BeforeAndAfterHappy Halloween everyone! Holidays are all about moderation, not deprivation, but make sure to track and stay accountable!Plateaued on the scale for the last month, but realized I hadn't done my measurements for a while. Definitely cheered me up -- my hips now are almost two inches smaller than my waist was when I started. This is my weekly weight chart since September. Started at 218 back in January, hit "overweight" at 169, and then have just stalled just under that. So frustrating, but at least I'm not gaining! What do you do to bust a plateau?week 52 of my streak for "Exercise for at least 90 minutes per week" earned 12/28/2017It's been a year since I started again on SparkPeople, and this is one New Year's Resolution I kept perfectly. Never done that before. Here's to keeping it up for another year! Between these two photos are 365 days of tracking and portion control, over 10,000 minutes of exercise, three 5Ks, a 10K, and a sprint triathlon. New Year's Resolution 2017 was a success. Looking forward to 2018!#BeforeAndAfterHave some work to do to get back to that goal line, but I'm finally headed in the right direction again after a loooooong plateau. Tracking evety bite helps! This week my challenge is to make sure I get my water in!I love eggs Benedict. To get the flavor without the sauce, I mixed one tsp olive oil with 1 tsp lemon juice and a bit of black pepper and drizzled it on a light English muffin. Add lean ham and a soft boiled egg - only 270 calories!Had my 7 year old stand on the scale with me today. Together, we weigh less than I did alone when I started. He thinks that's pretty neat.Gah! 150s! Not seen since 2005! Almost 60 lb down!Enjoying Easter today, back on track tomorrow! Moderation, not deprivation, but always back to the plan!I need to see this today, so I thought I'd share with all of you. Never forget it! Progress on the scale, with the measuring tape, or in the dressing room are great, but these are the numbers that really tell the story. High cholesterol runs in my family, and my numbers were getting up there, but after 1.5 years of much improved diet and regular exercise, and not a lick of meds, EVERY "bad" number on my panel has dropped, almost all to within normal range. I am stoked! It's been a while since I have logged in and really tracked my food. I have been maintaining a 54 lb loss for almost a year now, and would really like to get things going again. I'd love to be at goal weight before my 40th birthday in March! Just 25 lb to go!I used to hate candid photos -- holding a kid, not really paying attention, no time to pose, but the photo on the right is one of my favorites for those very reasons. I have been holding steady for a while and would like to get things moving again (goal weight under 140) but it's good to see how far I've come! #BeforeAndAfter Last weekend I ran my 1st ever Half Marathon. I started running in March 2018. I turn 40 next year. Anything is possible! It's all about baby steps and forward progress. We can all move mountains!White Mountains, NH. Not super skinny but I felt powerful and strong. This was before kids. My "pre-husband" weight -- literally the night before I met him. Lowest weight in my adult life.
