Hi Cynthia! I am new to Sparkpeople and have not posted a comment before. Congratulations on your weight loss and for having the courage to go through weight loss surgery and knowing it is definitely "not the easy way out"
I wanted to respond to a post on the first page of the string to Jibbie49. Jibbie quotes that 50% of people who have had weight loss surgery regain all of their weight after two years. That data is incorrect. The RNY gastric bypass (which is 80% of WLS in the U.S has a very high success rate. Only 15% of patients regain all of their weight which means that 85% did not. The surgery is a tool to help but by modifying your food intake, working out etc displays that I think you will be successful long term.

You go, girl. You decided what was good for you and what would allow you to work towards and ultimately maintain your weight loss. There are plenty of other sparkers who have had WLS too. I have not had the surgery, but I have had personal friends who have. I understand that it is a tool that you all have on your side, but it is still hard work that you have to do yourself in order to reach your goals.
You keep on doing what you are doing and keep up the weight loss. I have no doubt that with spark by your side you will reach your ultimate goal and start to feel and look better and better.
Oh, and don't run from the camera, you are absolutely beautiful.

Although I wish you could have lost the pounds like other Sparkers and not had to gone to the extreme of Weight Loss Surgery, I'm happy for you that it has helped. Glad to see you will be on the DOCTORS as that is a very good show produced by DR. PHIL.
50% of people who have WLS gain all the weight back again after two years, so I know you won't do that since you will continue to be a SPARKER. 4472 days ago
