I am a 50 year old woman who has struggled with addictions and body image all my life. I quit drinking 2.5 years ago and have slowly been working on creating the life I truly desire. I am ready now to get as healthy as I can and learn to take care of my body in a sustainable way instead of going to extremes and yoyoing up and down the scale all the time! I am also motivated by the fact that inflammatory diseases run in my family and I was starting to manifest symptoms, which I have established are aggravated when I am not eating and exercising in a healthy way. I want to remain active and enjoy the good things in life well into old age!!

Update 1/5/2017
Finally got a chance to get on here and review the goals I set last year when I started. I have been struggling with emotional eating and lack of motivation since my Dad died in September. However I did achieve my anniversary of 3 years sobriety on 11/11/16, which was huge! I also have achieved some other victories, such as getting some health insurance which allowed me to (finally!) get a number of things taken care of which I had been putting off and had sworn to myself I would take care of this year: mammogram, colonoscopy etc. I also was able to get some treatment (and subsequent relief!) for a non life-threatening yet very bothersome chronic skin condition, AND best of all I have been able to see a therapist for a number of sessions to help me work through my "complicated grief" (well at least start working through it, and get some support with other issues). SO even though I pretty much abandoned my diet and exercise program during this time, and consequently regained some weight, I still feel good about the progress I have made in the overall arena of learning to take better care of myself. And, I am back sooner, rather than later (in other words, I've only been off 3 months not three years!!)so I feel good about that. Overall 2016 was a tough, stressful year, sprinkled with some really wonderful things...I'm learning to stay conscious of the positive and not let myself get overly focused on the "negative". A life-long challenge!

Update January 6, 2018
I achieved a long-term goal of getting a breast reduction last year. It has taken some time to get used to the feel of my new body and get healed up enough to exercise without any restrictions. My weight has continued to be a bit higher than I'd like and I haven't been very diligent with my eating habits over the holidays/winter.
Now that the holidays are over I am working on getting back to better eating habits and deciding exactly what kinds of activity work best for me at this point. I really want to challenge myself to be more athletic this year.

My Goals:
To find a weight that feels comfortable for my body (based on past experience this will be somewhere between 150-160 pounds) and MAINTAIN that long term!!
To learn to eat and exercise in a sustainable way-no extremes!
To learn to reward myself in healthy ways instead of with junk food and other non-life-supporting things.

My Program:
Log my foods daily and focus on eating 3 well balanced meals per day of whole unprocessed foods.
Keep my protein/carb/fat ratios about 1/3 each to keep blood sugar levels stable.
Do moderately challenging exercise (walking with hills, or doing walk/jog intervals) 3 times per week for about 45 minutes.

Personal Information:
I hail from the Great Northwest! I enjoy gardening, hiking, being on or in the water, and spending time with my soulmate and my family. I love animals, art, music, humor, and yes, FOOD!!

Hi. I keep trying to get back organized for food tracking. Making changes to schedule, getting a better sleep routine in place. Working on food plan that doesn't take so much time to prepare. Also bought a Planet Fitness membership. Baby steps!

Are you interested in a Challenge?

The Biggest Loser goes for 10 weeks. It consists of 10 teams participating in weekly Fitness and Nutrition challenges. The Spring challenge will be getting started the beginning of March. It consists of fitness and nutrition challenges that are often in a form of a game. If for some reason you cannot do a challenge then they are modified to meet your needs. Often we do the challenge in a game form, we have BINGO and TIC TAC TOE or seasonally themed. For Winter we had Help Santa Fill His Sleigh, Run Rudolf Run and Super Bowl. If you decide this might be for you you can leave your name on the waitlist for the Spring challenge. To get to the Challenge go to my page and click on the Blue Biggest Loser Icon, copy and paste the link below, or let me know and I can send you an invite. Join the Team then sign up on the waitlist. It’s the thread right below the Frosted Fitness Fun Chit Thread.

I hear you! I am your sister in insomnia. Need a....what's it called -- sleep wardrobe, or something?

Glad to hear you've gotten some rest. Me too!
