Greetings and salutations! Last summer I weighed 245 pounds. My stomach ulcer flared up in June and my doctor put me on a strict diet of canned fruits and vegetables for 2 months. Immediately, I felt changes - I had more energy during the day and I was losing weight. I continued to eat healthier and within 5 months I had lost 40 pounds. A few weeks ago I was 191 pounds but I found it much harder now to drop the weight. I started Spark People and started tracking my steps and my calories. Since then I have lost another 6 pounds to 185. Update: This morning May 5, 2017, I weighed in at 177.4. If it wasn't for Zone pasta, I don't think I could have made it this far. Update 12/16: for the past two months my weight has osculated between 149 and 153. I blame pumpkin pie and egg nog. ;) Uodate 5/8: in Feb 2018 I weighed in at 143lbs. I went to Sydney for a month and gained 10lbs. I'm working hard to get back down to and maintain 145, at least until the Holidays. 😉

My Goals:
Drop 10 pounds every 6 to 8 weeks.
Keep walking, try to do at least 10k steps every day.
Start bicycling again.
Use light weights to start building up core strength.
My ultimate weight goal is to get as close to 135 as possible while staying healthy.


My Program:
I follow (loosely) the Zone diet, which is to say, I eat protein, "good" carbs and a "dash of fat". I have stopped eating pasta and bread, except for the occasional whole wheat English muffin. Lately we have discovered German Dark Wheat bread from Pepperidge Farms. High in protein with added molasses. Still need to watch how much we eat, but it's better than any other bread out there.
