UPDATED 12/28/10: After a year of ankle issues and starting a new job - I've gained 10 pounds back ... not waiting for the new year to start back on track!

Seriously Ann ... it's time to give up those last 20 pounds! I have been on Spark People (well, we have an on-again-off-again relationship) since January 11th, 2007 and I have lost a total of 24 pounds. Not a huge number, but that's 2 pants sizes --- ALLLLMOST three pants sizes! I have 20 pounds to go (I think I said that already, can you tell I'm stuck on those last 20???) and my dear friend Nancy (username Nancy-Girl - she's fab ... go check her out!) has declared 2010 the year of completion. So here I am. And here you are. So let's DO this already!

A little bit of background... in 2006 I had knee surgery on my left knee. In 2007 my in-laws moved in with us and we were building a house for the entire family. Then I had sinus surgery that went terribly wrong, and shortly thereafter my father-in-law was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The entire year that followed is a big blur of hospitals, high emotions, fear, anger, and confusion. We lost Bill in March of 2008 - if you have ever watched a loved one suffer, you can understand when I say we were incredibly heart broken and relieved to see him go. He suffered every single day for the last four months of his life. Many days were touch and go - there aren't words to describe what it's like to tell someone goodbye over and over again.

I know that Bill is with God, in heaven, and fishing like it's no one's business! My mother-in-law is finally settled and jovial again (huge grin). My husband has moved forward. Our son lost two more people very close to him in 2008 as well (our son is 6). In 2009 I had another knee surgery on the same knee, had mono all summer long, and wore a boot on my right foot for 2 months in the fall --- 2009 was a year of more illness, healing, closure, and finding our way again.

I am a Christian. I am a wife. I am a mom. I am a sister, and a daughter. I am a scrapbook artist ... no really, I create books for people for a living! I am blessed to live in this little suburban paradise in McKinney, TX surrounded by amazing women and men who know how to and WANT to care for each other. I am a singer. I am a dancer ... ok not by trade, but just ask my husband .... oh and the kitchen is my stage. I am a "fixer" and like to help people smile and laugh and heal.

And this year ... this year ... is the year of completion. For whatever reason, God has chosen to put physical limitations on me, but stay tuned because that will NOT - I repeat - will NOT hold me back this year. He's working on me and through me, and maybe it's to inspire YOU --- only He knows. If you also suffer from x,y, and z conditions - friend, you've found the right partner on SPARK! If it's contagious, I get it. If it isn't contagious ... well, I've probably had it already. HAHAHAHAHA! Don't let it get you down, whatever your "it" might be.

How will I do it? (seriously? you're still reading???)

I Ann, take you Spark, to be my best friend. I refuse to sit here and hold your hand all day long, but I vow to check in with you as often as time permits. I promise to play with my son and my husband at the park and outside as much as possible. I promise to keep an eye on all food that enters my body. Through sickness and in health, I will confide in you and find comfort through your members (you know who you are!). I vow to help lift up as many members as I can without losing sight of my own priorities and needs.

My Goals:
Goal 1: Make it an entire week tracking my food.
Reward: New water bottle

Goal 2: Workout 3 times each week, two weeks in a row
Reward: New workout shoes

Goal 3: Weigh in at 159
Reward: hair cut and highlights!

Goal 4: Get my son to ride his bike without training wheels (this means I'm off my rear and we're at the park!)
Reward: knowing that I taught him something new!

Goal 5: Weigh in at 154
Reward: Feel good about getting back to my pre-foot problem weight, and use my gift card to buy a new workout outfit


My Program:
Track my food, avoid over-eating, and eat to live instead of living to eat.

Workouts will be intentional, with a plan of attack before every workout.



Personal Information:
My Indian Name should be: Laughing Moose. Not because I'm huge, but because my nickname growing up was Moose, and I utterly enjoy laughing ...

    Thanks for your support, Team Mate! I was just starting my warm-up on the e-bike when I heard my e-mail chime that I had a comment on my blog. Listened to Max Lucado who is so good at reminding me to take my problems, disappointments, etc. to God. Duh!!! Why didn't I do that in the 1st place! A box of rocks, my thinking was like! LOL So, right now, as of 9:42 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time, I re-declare this GO-TIME!!! Go, Grancy, Go!! Love ya!! Nancy
