    I have been running for almost a year. When I started, I could barely complete 1/4 of a mile. I am now up to 8 1/2 miles without stopping.
    You sound like me when talking about being off for a week. I am at the point where I feel "out of sorts" if I miss a day. If you have access to an elliptical machine, take advantage of that for a week. A pool would also be an excellent alternative. I know these activities can't replace running but they are still cardio intensive. Focus on strength training for your legs while you are not running.
