My name is Amber and I love to run! My goal is to qualify for the Boston Marathon by completing a marathon in 3:40:59.

At one point I was obsessed with getting down to a certain number on the scale, hence "want2be123". I did get down to that number but found it was not maintainable without being extremely strict. In fact I reached that goal being 100% perfect during the process and I hated life. I lost 40 lbs in about four months. Well guess what? I gained half of it back even quicker than I lost it!

Now I am working on not being so perfect lol! Starting with my goal weight. I am not necessarily bent on a number anymore. I just learned that I am 5'7 so 130 sounds ideal, better than 123. Again, the number is not as important to me as the way I feel.

I want to be comfortable in my own skin, toned, and confident. I want to learn how to eat healthfully without tracking for the rest of my life.

*Qualifying for the Boston Marathon is my ultimate goal!!

My Program:
*Hal Higdon's Advanced 1 marathon training for the Dallas White Rock Marathon 12/5/10.

-peaks at about 60 miles per week, but I might add more

Su: easy
M: hard (sorta long)

S: long

Firm believer in Hal Higdon's training plans! www.halhigdon.com for free programs of all distances! :)

*Drink more plain water

*Stretch after my runs. I hate taking time to stretch!

*In the off season I will lose the rest of the weight, getting to 130.

Personal Information:
I grew up in a tiny town in Iowa, met my husband in Colorado, and moved to Dallas where we are currently living and going to school.

My husband is a PhD student at Dallas Theological Seminary, and is looking to teach at a Bible College or Seminary.

I work in the Housing office at DTS where we are constantly crazy busy, but it has been a good growing experience for me. I'm a completely different person, in a good way, because of it.

Other Information:
My PR's:

Dallas White Rock Marathon 12/13/09: 4:01:03

DRC Half Marathon 11/1/09: 1:49:19

Tour Des Fleurs 20k 9/20/08: 1:44:12

Run for Retrievers 5k 05/2010: Placed in my age group!!! B/c it was a small race lol!

5K PR: 23:49... I am a distance runner NOT a sprinter, and I hate 5ks! :)

Oh wow! I am so sorry. I have arthritis in my right big toe so I know you are in pain! When did you find this out? I know you are going through a mourning process in a way. What are the doctors doing for you?
I will be lifting you up in prayer because I know it is hard.
BTW... You are in Dallas, right? Did I ever tell you my husband went to Southwestern (in Fort Worth) to get his masters I finished college at TCU. We have now been serving at a church in Charlotte, NC (Hickory Grove Baptist) for 16 years.
    Cool!

He eliminated pork and all pork products from his diet and increased his fish oil suppliments. He had arthritis so bad in his shoulders that he couldn't life his arms over his head. Now he can lift them to about 45*, give or take. He saw even better results when he eliminated gluten from his diet. You can also try glucosamine and chondrotin suppliments. Some people swear they work and others don't see a difference.
