The last few years have been the most difficult ever. I was injured at my last job in late 2013 then I was then diagnosed with fibromyalgia in early 2014 and around the same time my dad became ill, later learning he had lung cancer. My dad ended up dying 6 months after his diagnosis and it broke me. Of course during this time I was binge eating out of stress and emotions. I was feeling helpless for myself and my dad. I tried to be the strong one for my mom, as her and dad were just a few months away from their 50th wedding anniversary. She needed me, so I did my best at being there for her. It was a daily struggle to get out of bed from the pain and depression, but I did it for her. So after my last drs appointment and seeing the scale at a number I cringed at I knew I needed to also help myself. I started seeing a counselor who told me it was OK to do things for me too. So I did. Even though still difficult from the fibromyalgia pain. Fast forward 5 months I finally lost 15-17 pounds. Hitting my first goal of getting under 200# was the first success I had felt in a long time. I will keep pushing. Great news is that I am getting married in February! I want to look good of course, so trying to lose another 15+ pounds by then. If theres anyone else struggling with fibro out here, I would love to get in touch and learn from you. Each day brings new pains and hurdles, but I am determined to get better. Would love to find support and encouragement here again. Thanks Spark people!

Update - I recently had a dr visit and had bloodwork done. It showed that I was lacking vitamins B12 and D3. After a month of getting B12 injections and taking supplements I have found I have a little energy to get up and move more. Its so amazing, I didn't think I could ever excersize again.

Update 5/1/2016 - After additional B12 and D3 supplements since January I have kept my energy levels up with less severe fibromyalgia pain. I still take daily pain pills which I am not happy about, but until there is a cure there is not much I can do. Being more active was suggested by drs in the past and it might be helping, but I still wear out pretty easily. Since last year I am down 19 pounds, but I am down about 30 pounds since my heaviest in 2014.

Update 5/17/2018 - I have been away awhile, but getting back to it. I had been working out at Fitness For Function classes the last couple years. I also have been diagnosed with hip bursitis and have started getting physical therapy treatment for that. I feel like I have gained weight again since being away but I realized my weight has plateaued which is ok, better than gaining. It is spring though and I need to start getting out more. Hoping with therapy twice a week I can start feeling better, sleeping better and get back to being more active.

My Goals:
I want to feel as good and look as good as I did before I had fibromyalgia.

My Program:
Fitness for function class twice a week, physical therapy twice a week including light water aerobics and ultrasound therapy on my hip.

Personal Information:
I am currently a stay at home cat mom to 3 furbabies. I spend my best feeling days with my husband doing fun stuff be it fishing, kayaking, shopping or just cooking together and cuddling with our cats. My mom lives closeby so I try to spend time with her during the week even if its just grocery shopping with her.

Other Information:
I am a Christian and I love learning how to be a better person in God's eyes. Being a newly wed (2 years now), its been interesting learning how to make things work for us and becoming the wife I would like to be with pain issues hindering every part of your daily life. I am trying to get better so that I can someday work outside of the home again. It is a journey and I praise God for it all daily.
