I started sparking with the DASH diet in August 2013 and I have made some significant progress. Lost 22 pounds and headed into holidays 2013 in better shape than in many years. January/February 2014 brought some tougher times and I struggled with emotional eating. For March I signed on for the Official 10-Minute Daily Exercise Streak Challenge and started walking. I completed that challenge successfully and it has helped me get moving again. I'm now working to continue exercising regularly, and to eat mindfully. I've lost some of the weight I regained, and have a little more to go before I can start to get my weight loss ticker moving in the right direction. Til then, I'm leaving it right where it is to remind me of my success, my goals, and as a motivator. I am trying to focus on using SP as a tool for health and less as a social outlet.

My Goals:
my goals are simple:

new goal, 4/13/14: to keep going getting fit and shedding pounds and wear my sweet Hawaiian shirt on our trip there this December! for motivation I've made it my background photo! Isn't it pretty?

DID IT! lost 10% body weight (total of 20 pounds) DONE 11-25-13

DID IT! bring my blood pressure down to readings that will make my CRNP smile (DONE 3-4-14)

DID IT! get my cholesterol readings into numbers that will make my CRNP smile some more (DONE 3-4-14)

YUP! DID THAT TOO! keep, or even improve, my annual A1-C (3-4-14)

ON MY WAY! keep going through my annual checkup (3-4-14) and beyond to achieve and maintain healthier lifestyle


My Program:
working to walk at least 20 minutes 5 or more times a week

eating fewer processed foods, lots of veggies and smart proteins

continue to drink at least 8 glasses of water / day



Personal Information:
Living, working and getting healthier in central Pennsylvania! in my spare time I crochet, bake, craft, garden and relax.... and do laundry :)


Other Information:
Spark People make a difference in my life. I am grateful for this site- it has brought so many good and inspiring sparkfriends into my life! Even when I am walking all alone my sparkfriends are with me cheering me on, keeping me company and sharing the fight! I LOVE SP!
