    I was 54 when I joined SparkPeople and 56 when I came back and started my Spark Program, starting with Stage One. This is a one day at a time program, but if you do the SparkPeople Program Steps, it really does work. I am terribly average, it's the SP program that is extraordinary.

    I found logging my foods in the Nutrition Tracker helped me to lose 90 lbs in 16 months! I started at 210 and went to 120. I am 5'1.5" short, lol.

    I hung clothing that was too small on my closet door and every time I would get discouraged I would try them on. Week by week they started fitting! That kept me motivated.

    Welcome aboard, we really are all in the same boat! Sometimes we can sail right along but sometimes we have to be rowing like crazy!

    You can make it happen! SparkPeople really does work!

    I spent most of my 59 years in Obesityville - that is one town I never want to visit ever again!

    Well welcome to the site! I've only been to Reno once to visit my sister while she was working there, but there are definitely some fun things nearby. I can definitely understand how hard it is for you emotionally to be so far from friends and family.

    But you've come to the right place! I would really recommend joining some spark teams and test them out so you find some you really love- it's a great way to get a smaller support community (these boards are great for getting general info, ideas, etc) and I think it's easier to make friends in teams too! Plus there are tons so you're sure to find some that interest you!

    Other than that my biggest recommendations to you are to track your intake and workouts faithfully, and if you like to cook, sparkrecipes has an amazing recipe calculator tool that tells you the nutritional value of your recipe! Definitely one of my favorites :)
