A few months after the birth of my firstborn in February 2010, I found myself in a rut. Despite numerous assurances from other folks that it would just sort of magically fall off, some of the extra weight I'd put on during my pregnancy had stuck around, and I was at a loss for what to do. I just never seemed to have time to exercise even being a stay-at-home mom to a little baby. But somewhere along the way, I realize something... I had to MAKE time for exercise. I started with exercise videos and the occasional walk outside, until finally I decided to tackle something I never thought I'd be able to do because I just wasn't built for it... RUNNING, and have yet to look back.

As I spend the majority of my day just chasing two young kiddos around, I just yearn for a sense of routine. Trying to get back to where I left off in May 2011. One day at a time.

My Goals:
- Build my stamina in the pool and learn to flip turn

- Continue cadence and resistance training on the bike

- Go all out on my main morning run workouts for the week, but supplement with shorter easier efforts in the evenings as able.

My Program:
So thankful to have my coach, Dana, to setup my program and help me through my road blocks. She's done an incredible job these past few months helping me to become a triathlete.

In general terms - my program includes a mix of swim, bike, and run workouts.

Love love love the variety.

Personal Information:
I'm a happily married momma from MS with a passion for running, hockey (Nashville Predators), and football (sum the last up with SEC and Mannings).

Other Information:
"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best."

--- Marilyn Monroe

"Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired. When you were younger the mind could make you dance all night, and the body was never tired...You've always got to make the mind take over and keep going. "

Welcome to the Tall Ladies team! I'm glad you found us. Congrats on your great progress to your goal. You are closing in on your goal! I wish you the best to get there.

PS It's great to see you are a hockey fan! I'm a born and raised one myself - but for the Red Wings :)

Thanks for the motivation -- went on that second "run" of C25k today -- pushed it a little harder for an outdoor workout (I seem to slack off when not on the treadmill (likely on the walking part) my cool-down was about 2 1/2 min longer (have to get home) but my pace increased a bit (35 sec/mile). Hope I can keep up this momentum when I go back to work next week. Hope your day and your workout went well!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. I was sort of feeling that maybe I need to face all of those past feelings and really find my self under all of that baggage we can get caught up in. I am hoping to get caught up in this running thing. So many people seem to enjoy it, and Iike you, I always used the excuse that "I wasn't built to run". I have run a 5k once before in 2004 and had been working towards a 10 mile race (I had a 10 K scheduled for the morning of the day after my dad went into ICU). I, of course, missed that race and while I kept the training up for the next couple of weeks, Somehow that goal just wasn't so important anymore. But it is a different time now and my health is important. So I am signing up for that same 5K this April and yesterday I ran day 1 of C25k. Not sure if I will try for the 10 miler again, we will look up the road after we cross this first bridge. Good luck to you as you train for the 10K and the 1/2 marathon -- have you chosen one yet?
