Updated: 2/27/18: I am afraid that in spite of all the best of intentions my efforts to make some life changing changes have been superficial. It wasn't until a prolonged multiple health issues hung around for 10 months out of the year 2017 that I was forced to face a lot of the health issues that I had not because I wanted to but because it was in my face on a daily basis.

I did lose nearly 40 lbs. in 2017 but I am still plagued with many of the same health issues that I had before that and a few new ones to boot. I still have between 80-90 lbs. left to lose to be at a better and healthier weight for me.

I do want to say that it does not get any easier if you wait to do what you know what you need to do. So, my unsolicited advice is do it anyway. You won't regret that you did.

Whatever your health issues or reasons or needs for losing weight and reclaiming your health you still need to commit and then do it. Don't expect perfectionism just out of the gate. It takes time to undo a lot of bad habits. You are going to fall and then you are going to have to get back up and try again. The main thing is never ever quit on yourself. Why? You are so worth it.

My Goals:
A healthy sustainable weight for my age, height and weight history. I am not looking to be a certain size but rather to have numbers; like blood pressure, blood sugar, etc., that reflect healthy choices which will give me the energy and fuel to live life as fully as possible.

My Program:

I count calories. I aim for a balanced food plan with minimal added sugar. Recently, due to ongoing GI condition I have had to follow a low residue food plan. I track here on Sparkpeople under the Nutrition Tracker and use the Diabetes Meal Plan as a guide to portion control, balance of macronutrients and meal/snack sizes.

My current exercise program is:

updated on November 12, 2017: after a prolonged period of chronic illness I am more focused right now on rebuilding my strength and stamina so I don't have a specific exercise routine that I follow.

Personal Information:
Happily married to husband Paul for 15 years. Retired due to disability (RA/OA). Live in Deep South for past 14 years, like the mild climate but way too many good restaurants! Hobbies are: old black n white movies, decorating, fashion, coloring and finding new ways to make old recipes a lot healthier! I am currently enrolled in a Jewelry Design course with NYIAD. I will find out if I am any good at this when I finish the course. ;)

Other Information:
"If you remove the I in Illness and replace it with WE then you go from Illness to Wellness."

(I just read this and I didn't notice the author). This speaks volumes to me right now because that is my overall goal: to go from Illness to Wellness.
