I'm 55 and have been sedentary for awhile. Although I'm healthy now, I've come to the realization that if I don't make changes I won't keep my good health. I have one teen left at home and he's moving forward with his life so I've decided that 2009 is for me. I'm eating better and exercising. I don't know how much weight I plan to lose, when I get where I want to be I'll know. I'm walking on my TM everyday and am looking forward to the springtime (not til May where I live) when I can start riding my bike again. This is going to be my best year yet!

My Goals:
To be healthy. I'm 55 and have lived half my life but I have alot more that I want to accomplish. That will only happen if I take care of myself. 2009 is MY year!

My Program:
I'm following Bob Greene's Best Life Plan. I've started walking on my TM for 20 minutes a day and I'm also doing some light weight lifting. It's paying off because I hurt less and feel much better. In May (when the weather gets warm here) I'll start riding my bike to work. I've also been thinking about taking a water aerobics class.
July - I started the water aeobics class and have also added hiking to my activities. I plan to return to skiing this winter after a 10-yr hiatus.

Personal Information:
I'm from Cache Valley UT. I'm an avid knitter and spinner (fiber) and own a small yarn shop.

Other Information:
I love life! Something that I realized recently... if a person consistantly loses 2 # a week that will equal 104# in one year.

    Hi trillcatz I have been in Phoenix and my computer has been crashed. My grandson has it running . It needs some tweeking . Have you been ill? I sure hope the sunny days are making you better. emoticon

    Thanks for the comment on my page! Yes, I would welcome 2 lbs. a week but so far it hasn't happened. I thought it would be a snap but I'm about 4 lbs. behind making 2 lbs. a week. I'm very happy though with what I've done so far. You're doing a great job...keep it up!

    Congratulations on 25 pounds lost !

    To stay at my goal weight I wrote down an eating and exercise plan as I approached my goal, increasing the calories I allow myself. I periodically evaluate that plan and make changes. The first few months I continued to use my food journal, mainly because it had become a habit, but I also found it was a good tool to help me transition to maintenance. I still use it off and on if I find I'm overeating (usually on sweets). That gets me back on track.
