Here I am... The Comeback Kid! I have been a member of SPARK for a long time now but been more of a lurker that participater. At a point where I NEED to be a part and use this wonderful resource, hoping to find help as well as be a help... "Here We Go!!!"

Starting over in a transitional point of life, 49 and feeling all of the flux that comes with this season. Peri has been creeping up on me for some time now and revealed its presence mostly in the form of fatigue, weight gain and joint pain that can fluctuate depending on a lot of different things but has been very difficult. Hoping that by tweaking some things in my eating habits and being faithful with moderate exercise that includes walking, stretching, and weight training that I will be successful in maintaining health and wellness into my my future. That would include at the moment;

Losing at least 20-25 lbs but at the very least 15-20

Increasing/maintaining mobility

Walking 2-4 miles 5-6 days a week

Weight training 2-3 days a week

And of course eating to cooperate with my goals and so I am not further stressing my body with all that it is going through at the moment.

Lastly remembering how grateful I should be every day for this body that has carried me all of the years so far. Remembering not to be mean to myself or be my own worst enemy either in the way I speak to myself or in the way I care or don't care for myself. Looking to finish well and be healthy in BODY - MIND & SPIRIT.

My Goals:
My goals start with

1. Developing and maintaining consistency with making healthy food choices every day at every meal. No mindless eating! Should probably become consistent with writing down everything that goes into my mouth or I will conveniently forget!

2. Gaining and maintaining muscle mass aka - fighting gravity and holding up the skeleton:)

3. Mobility, so important as I age to not only be strong but mobile/flexible, and it just feels better!


My Program:
Stretching is an absolute must for me at this point. In spite of the weather (except the obvs downpour or storms) go out walking with (or without) my kids every day. Do the exercises that maintain core strength and keep things aligned properly. May look into my local rec center to use some of there machines for weight training things I cannot accomplish as easy at home.

With a name like Thriftygal, you gotta know I love thrift stores:) I'm a junkie!!


Other Information:
I never ever want to hide my light under a basket. More that anything else in the world, I am eternally grateful for the loving salvation of the only true God through Jesus Christ our Lord, "The Way, the Truth, and the Life". It is also an honor to serve and love my family, which includes two wonderful boys and my Best friend and husband Kenny.
