Since last we met...

My life has changed so much since I last used spark people to commit to health and wellness! I've gained 100 pounds since 2012 but I've also met the love of my life, gotten married, been accepted in graduate school, got a new job, and moved to a new city! O_O

I'm a busy girl nowadays and I'm still trying to reconcile how to squeeze fitness, sleep, down time, school, internship, work, housekeeping, and diet into my days. I want to go from almost 300 pounds to 140 by the time I turn 30 in 2018... so I have two years to make this happen. I know I can do it, I've done it before! It will really take some work to find out what will work best for me. Wish me luck! I can't wait to get back into the community!

I'm plugging back into Spark People! I just love the community and inspiration that exists on this site. Still interested in losing weight but don't want to drill sergeant myself into hating it again.

I've been on and off again with SP since the New Year, and I'm hitting some road bumps along the way. I try not to let it get me down, but I am disappointed in myself, since I keep having to push back my weight loss goals, as I'm not meeting the deadlines.
I'm ready to re-commit to myself, losing weight the old-fashioned way, diet and exercise.
I've been fat (not using "fat" to be insulting to myself, just as an accurate descriptor) since I was really really little. I don't want to blame my parents, but they didn't really understand about how healthy habits can be learned by modelling (or not modelling). So my first weight loss attempt was at age 10 (!), which involved "natural" pills. I wish I could go back in time and tell my 10 year old self not to worry about how I looked- I probably would have ended up a lot smaller!
So when that didn't work (since I was a growing child!) I moved on to Richard Simmons' food mover at age 13. This actually did work! I lost 100 pounds over the course of 5 years. Doesn't sound like much, but since I was still maturing, I was okay with it. Unfortunately, I learned some very unhealthy behaviors and adapted a pretty negative body image, both of which I'm still trying to un-learn.
Then I got to college, and instead of the Freshman 15, I had the Sophomore Slump and became really depressed. I gained twenty pounds, then another twenty. To be honest, I still felt okay. My weight wasn't conflicting with my active lifestyle. Then my hormones got all jumbled up and I gained about 50 pounds in 6 months!
I'm still at this pound, though I have lost 20 pounds, thanks to a change in medication, diet, and exercise. It's still slow-going thanks to craving binges.
I'd appreciate the support of this community with reaching my goals. I love reading other people's blogs- you all are such an inspiration!
Thanks for reading! Friend me and I'll be sure to friend you :D
