I'm a strong and independent woman in my mid 50s. My kids are grown (finally), and I suddenly find myself grandmother to nine beautiful children. I finally figured out that the only way I could get fit was to be in a physical (rather than virtual) group setting. I love Spark, don't get me wrong, but it's easier to hide online than it is in a small town where I see people from my workout group out and about. :-D I still use the site to track my fitness because I like to see the minutes add up, and tap into the articles and recipes all the time. I've finally figured out what works for me. Never too late! I continue to be inspired by all your stories of struggle and victory -- both large and small. Every baby step towards good health is a leap in the right direction!

My Goals:
My main goals are to be fit and happy.

Keep weight around 125.

Run a half marathon in fall 2014.

My Program:
I'm making better food choices and getting regular exercise. I've discovered that I do much better in a group setting where people hold me accountable.

I'm from a smaller town smack in the middle of Iowa. It's taken me a long time to realize that it's okay to reach out for help.

    Thank you so much for the encouragment and kind words you left me on my blog "don't lose any more weight..."...I do hope someone in my family gets "sparked"...unfortunately I come from a family of girls who are all overweight if not obese...I know right now they don't have any health issues but carrying the extra weight is not an added benefit to them nor will it be in the future. You're right, all I can do is keep doing what I am doing and hopefully they'll get to their own place where they are sick and tired of being fat!!! You keep pressing forward as well!! :)

    Thanks for reading my blog. Yea basically I'm at the point where I want to punch people who suggest kegels because I've done them I hate them I will do more of them but at the moment it's not doing the job I was told to lose weight and see how it goes from there. I'd like to avoid therapy and ABSOLUTELY would like to avoid surgery so we'll see what happens I suppose. I don't have really bad issues like I did after my first mostly only the stupid Jumpeeing jacks I mean who can drink 2 liters of water a day and jump with out leaking? Can it be done? :) Hope you're having a good day!!
