It has been over nine years that I stopped smoking, and decided to work on my excess weight.

I have been very successful with the no smoking part, but not so much with the losing weight... I keep losing, then gaining back. And the cycle starts again.

It is time now to re-evaluate what I am doing wrong. I think I stay on a diet that is too restrictive, and when I allow myself a little "break", this turns into several months of over eating.

Raising a handicapped son all by my myself is stressful, but I tend to use this as an excuse to over eat.

I have severe arthritis and it is urgent for me to lose weight.

So, let's pick up the momentum and see what we can do to get back on track, shall we?

My Goals:
Lose weight s-l-o-w-l-y while continuing to stay smoke-free (N.O.P.E = Not One Puff Ever).

Rewarding myself - all new, starting in 2017-

My Program:
- Eat balanced meals, not too restrictive calorie-wise.
- Watch my afternoon snacks
- Increase my vegetable and fruit consumption.
- Exercise every day, even if this is only 10 minutes a day. I need to keep moving because of arthritis that is getting worse when I am inactive. My new Fitbit will help with this.



Personal Information:
I am originally from France, but now live in Virginia. We go every year on vacation on Lake Superior (in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan) and we love it there!


Other Information:
I recently joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and it has brought wonderful changes in my life.
I love to read (theology and history books) and I listen to classical music (J.S. Bach is my favorite composer).

    emoticon Good morning.....guess what I bought in the big city yesterday......LAUGHING COW SMOKED GOUDA!!!! OMG!!! Smoked gouda has always been my favorite cheese and Laughing Cow did it justice. I bought enough to treat me one per day for the next 8 weeks (wasn't sure when I'd make it back to the big city...lol). Anyway...I did good yesterday and it was like I could feel my spark friends telling me I could do it!!! and I did!!! Thanks so much for finding a way for me to enjoy cheese again. Hope you have a great day and get some sunshine.

    Found some Laughing Cow cheese at the store yesterday. Seems there had been a sale on it and the only flavor left was mozzarella. I still bought it. It's good. I'm going to the "big city" tomorrow so will stop at a bigger grocery store and pick up some different flavors. One of the pros I like about Spark People is all the little ideas and hints and tricks you pick up from spark friends. Hope you are enjoying your day. Thanks for the continued encouragement on my binge streak blog. One request though....never change your identification icon. I love seeing that fluffy cat on the scale.

    Thanks for the suggestion of the open face English muffin. Every little bit helps. I just made out my meal plan for the day and tracked it. I was shocked, and unpleasantly surprised, when I saw how many carbs my homemade sweet potato fries had. YIKES!!! I decided to still have them, but only half as many. So much to learn about hitting the right balance, but I'll get there. Hope you are having a pleasant weekend.
