Risk! Risk anything! Care no more for the opinions of others, for those voices. Do the hardest thing on earth for you. Act for yourself. Face the truth. ~Katherine Mansfield

I am doing the hardest thing on earth for me - taking a break from all the expectations I place on myself and that others place on me. I am taking the time I need to heal. I am focusing on learning how to let go and forgive.

I am not losing weight so that I can love myself. I am learning to love myself. Right now. Exactly as I am. I expect that when I release my pain, I will release the unhealthy habits that brought me to this place and will lose the weight as a natural consequence.

Each healthy decision is an act of kindness towards myself.

My Goals:
To create a healthy lifestyle one small choice at a time.

My Program:
Above everything else, I try each day, each moment, to make the healthiest choices I can for myself.

I had RYN surgery Feb 2016 & am learning how to eat healthy on a bariatric diet.

I do body weight exercises for ST and walk for cardio. I also compete in monthly horse agility competitions and ride 2-3 times per week.

Personal Information:
I'm 48 years old, happily married with a grown son & two grown step-children. I'm an Island Girl - Vancouver Island - with access to some of the best outdoor recreation in the world.

Other Information:
Excuses are the nails used to build a house of failure. Don Wilder and Bill Rechin

No matter how slow you run, it is still faster than someone sitting on a couch. Joe Kelly

For my Sunny Gals:

What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. These are but trifles, to be sure; but, scattered along life's pathway, the good they do is inconceivable. Joseph Addison

Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and follow where they lead. Louisa May Alcott

True friendship brings sunshine to the shade, and shade to the sunshine.

Thanks so much for the goodie on my page. I really needed it today as had a setback from the Easter holiday dinner and logging in and seeing that was really uplifting and reminded me that although we all have setbacks, we're all here for each other and we can move forward from anything. We're all strong people that can do anything we set our mind to. Thanks for the reminder, for caring, for just being you! It really touched me. Keep in touch!!! emoticon

Welcome to the Couch to 5k running group!!!! Stop by the message board and introduce yourself to the team. On the team page you will find a thread for each training week. Click on week one and post were you are at in your training. This is a great way to meet others who are in the same phase of training as you. Some of my best friends were in my training week one and we worked through the program together sharing victories, questions, comments, and ideas. I look forward to learning more about you. I will be popping in on the Weeks 1 - 3 training to help answer any questions that might pop up and to cheer you on to your goals! Be blessed! Be a runner!

The photo of me and our horse (Jumps Fences - named so for obvious reasons!) was taken by my husband. I do side work as a photographer though, so I have good equipment. This photo was taken 2 years ago, but it's one of my favourites. Unfortunately, we don't have the farm anymore.

Thanks for the comment on my blog. Glad I could help. I totally understand about figuring out your way around here, I'm making discoveries daily!

I just love the photos of you! They are wonderful, especially the one with the horse, was it professionally done?
