My name is Terry. I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in 2004, but have it under control most of the time. It has truly been a humbling experience. In the meantime I have put on weight and lost muscle. I enjoy working out when my RA allows me to, trying to hit weights 3-4 days a week and cardio 6 days a week.
I love music (play bass guitar), mainly rock, metal and blues. I played in a band from age 16 to 22 when I got into racing motorcycles. I raced off road (enduros and hare scrambles mainly) for 12 years but now just enjoy trailriding with friends.
I was always in good shape racing. It requires a lot of upper body strength and in 1983 I started riding a road bike (bicycle) for cardio. One of my racing buddies and I got so wrapped up in cycling that we rode a couple of local bicycle races. I much preferred riding centuries and averaged riding 2 per year until around 1992 cutting back to just 1 a year. The last century I rode was in 1996 and if you put a gun to my head and told me to ride a bicycle 100 miles today, I would just tell you pull the trigger cause it ain't happening!
I try to ride my mountain bike a couple of times a week but only about a 10 mile ride on trails by the house.
Last year I peaked at 307 and have lost some on my own working out but decided it was time to get serious.
I met with a personal trainer at the gym I go to and set up a new routine for the next 2 months to follow:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Ab Machine 3 X 15 110lbs
Back Machine 3X 15 110lbs
Leg Press 3 X 15 290lbs

I am working on cutting carbs and fat while stepping up my workout. I met with a personal trainer 8-1-08 and have a new workout schedule. I am completely dedicated to making this work!!

I am putting a dual sport bike together; 4 of my old racing buddies are doing the same thing. We are going to hit at least 1 national dual sport ride each year as well as making our own rides. We plan to ride down into Mexico for a 5 day ride in 2010.

    Yes it is particularly difficult for furbabies that are left to grieve because they has lost a loved one...it is sad because they don't understand what has happened. ..just that they pal is not around... My Toby (my 11 year old flame point Himalayan) howled everynight for several weeks because he was used to sleeping with Clarence and he missed him so much...But over time Toby has adjusted and having a feral kitten in the house has really increased everyone's sense of playfulness...
