Hello, I'm Becky. I've been a member of SparkPeople.com since January 2009 and I have learned a lot about health, fitness, and friendship. I finally reached on goal in August 2012. Support from my Spark friends and my family have made the difference.

8/2012 - S U C C E S S at last. I have met my goal weight. It took 3 years and 7 months but all the life changes have paid off for both myself and my husband. I'm down 22.5 pounds but he is down 35 pounds with 15 more to go.

2/2009 Okay, 5 weeks into Spark People and I am seeing great results. Each week, pounds are coming off and inches are disappearing. My clothes fit so much better too.

3/2009 Still seeing results. Those results forced me to buy new clothes. I'm in a size 6 now. WOW. . .

4/2009 Well, not seeing any amazing results this month. Started working out with Maya (My Fitness Coach on the Wii) and I'm sure she can help to erase those last few pounds and then help me maintain a healthy weight. I've gained some new spark friends and I truly appreciate their support.

9/2009 The summer was busy but not to busy to keep a regular workout schedule. Working out five days a week and lots of walking kept those pounds off. I'm happy with my progress so far. Afterall, I went from a size 10 to a size 6.I have about 5 pounds to lose which is about 2 inches each off my waist and hips. I started using 3 lb. weights during my exercise program resently to help built more strength in my upper body. When I started this journey, I was lucky to complete one pushup. Now, I'm able to complete 40 or 50 with good form. Persistance pays well and I'm sure glad Spark People is here to keep me focused. I really like the results.

I find the food tracker to be the most useful tool for me. Since I eat mini meals, tracking the food lets me see all my totals like carbs and fat. Then I know when I have reached my limit.

11/2009 Okay, things have slowed down a bit but my team is keeping me on track. Finally broke 130# and on my way to 125#. That's my new goal. Thanks Spark People. I couldn't have done it without you.

12/09 Well here we are, the last month of the year. I'm doing well maintaining between 125 - 130. I would love to hit the 125 or below mark so today. . .new goal. There. Done. Now, get started. I'm going to be more diligent in food tracking and keep walkin, walkin, walkin.

1/2010 Here we are, one full year with Sparkpeople.com. Check out my blog called "Spot the Difference." There have been so many changes to spot. My body is smaller, healthier, and full of energy. I look great and I feel great. The biggest difference is that my husband joined me and lost 20 pounds over the last year. I'm so proud of him. He's got another 20 pounds to go and continues to track his food and exercise. Together, we can move mountains with the help of Sparkpeople. I'm smiling and I feel happy.

2/2010 I'm so excited. I weighed in at 126.3. I can tell you it's been more than 10 years since that number appeared on my scale. I just stay with the healthy foods and continue to exercise. All of this healthy stuff is routine now and I love it. My husband likes it too. We do all our cooking for the week on Sunday. We start with a menu and stick to it. Cooking a weeks worth of food for two people takes about 90 minutes start to clean-up. It has helped keep us from snacking and that's what got us in trouble in the first place.

4/2010 WOW, March came and went; now April is here and nearly done. I have continued to maintain my weight and healthy eating goals. February was kinda tough because it's so cold but I managed. It really helped to have so many people in my life to keep me motivated. My team friends, their blogs and encouraging words of wisdom. Mostly though, the shear joy of having other people in my life, whether online or in person, has really made the journey much easier. Exercising isn't as hard, eating healthy gets easier everyday, and I love the way I look and feel. My attitude is positive and everyday is an adventure. Gosh, I have come a very long way.

1/10/2011 Two years into Spark People and I'm stuck. I have stayed at 130# (for the most part) and have not been successful at losing the last 10 pounds. There is a reason for my troubles. STRESS! Hubby and I are guardians for his mother and his aunt; both are in the later stages of dementia. Need I say more?

Hubby has needed knee replacements for 15 years. He is in so much pain, he can barely walk but was told he was far too young for replacements by a doctor 10 years ago. He had two surgeries to help his knees. To date, he's back to unbearable pain but sees the doctor this month for an evaluation. Cross your fingers!

For me, well, you know that inner voice. . . It kept telling me to get a mammogram. I made the appointment and had the mammogram the Monday before Christmas. The doctor called saying more pictures were needed so, January 5th, more pictures were taken. Believe me, a dozen pictures with your breast pressed firmly between those plastic plates is painful. A doctor was reading the pictures as they were taken. Sadly, it is clear that I have two areas needing attention. My doctor was contacted, made me an appointment for me then called to tell me about the results. My appointment with the surgeon is Jan. 19. It's scary and stressful but I'll make it through.

IMPORTANT: Mammograms are not usually painful, so get it done when you're suppose too. Don't learn the hard way. It's not worth it.

2/2011 Went to see a surgeon at the James Hospital in Columbus Ohio. This doctor will do my breast surgery in April. Cells taken during biopsy were atypical meaning they are not normal. Since the mass is kinda large and against the chest wall, he feels it's best to remove rather than waiting and monitoring the area every 4 to 6 months. I agree.

My weigh goal is still 125 but I have not been very successful at getting past the 130 mark. Been stuck for a year now. I purchased the Total Gym and really enjoy the workouts. My clothes fit much better and people are noticing a difference in my appearance. I am feeling better these days too. When I sit down, I don't have that fat ring right in the center of my belly. Having that disappear makes me feel more comfortable. The weigh number may not be better but my overall body image is much, much better. That alone, is a feeling of success.

My Goals:
My original goal was to have the energy to keep up with my grandson during the summer. That goal was met but summer was way too short. Since then I have changed my goals as the excess weight fell off. Believe me, it took great effort and lots of support too but I kept going. Persistance pays big when you keep going even when discouragement knocks on the door.

My Program:
I'm using the Total Gym three times a week. I follow the 18 exercises in the video and find it helpful. I am getting stronger and notice that I have more stamina. I also take Kung Fu classes. I use the class more for relaxation that self-defense but the exercises support my fittness goals and fill the need for self-time.

Personal Information:
I'm orginally from Baltimore Maryland but left home immediately after high school. My husband and I have been married 29 years. That's not bad considering that we dated only 3 weeks. It will be 32 years in April 2010. We've lived in Ohio for the past 17 years. The weather is great but the economy is terrible.

Other Information:
I love to read books. In fact, I read between 300 and 400 books a year. Yes, I'm a librarian so I have access to lots of books. Since I work with 5th and 6th grade students, I read what they read so I can help them find books that interest them.
