You've probably read more than you can stand about fibromyalgia, but I thought that Barb Briley had some interesting articles. The link where I started was suite101.com:

Thanks for the encouragement! :) That's all it takes sometimes for me to go from "What do I think I'm doing?!" to using that very thing as a foundation for a long desired direction in life :) I don't know how soon I'll be in a mass of other walkers, but it's something that I can certainly reach for. It even adheres to goals in other areas of my life! Look for me; I'll be there someday :)

Hi there! I saw your comment too and I noticed you were new. I did the Commit To Be Fit 5K and it was my first organized fitness event EVER. I lined up in the proper spot which was clearly marked WALKERS. emoticon
I had no problem and didn't feel I was in the way of the Elite Runners. They crossed the start line at least 7 min ahead of me. Now I'm scouring the net looking for more 5K's! I want to be up there with the runners soon.

I hope to see you participating in one in the near future. You could start with the New Albany Walking Classic in the fall. It is a 10K but there are no runners that I know of.

I saw your comment on Donna's blog and wanted to stop by.

Not long ago I was a walker, but I never tried to line up in front of the runners. I'm not fast, so I don't try to line up ahead of my pacing. It's only disheartening to have to dodge walkers.

Don't let this discourage you from signing up and competing in these events. We've all started somewhere and make progressions.

    Best wishes!
