Goodness! I've decided to revisit SparkPeople and reading my own blog just realized how long it's been since my last visit.

Why am I back? Because this is a constant struggle. I've gone down, up, down, up, down, up..... So I'm hear looking for that motivation to get me in the right frame of mind. Let's go!

After 16 years of marriage, my husband and I are finally working together to be healthier (he's skinny so never worried about it). Now we work out together at the gym and here's the big one - he has agreed to eat healthier with me. We started our lifestyle changes mid-January of this year (2008) and are still going strong.

4/12/2008 - My husband and I are making it to the gym about 6 days a week. Sometimes 7 days, sometimes 5 days. We are there a min. of one hour but lately I'm usually there 1.5 hours. I'm looking at some HIIT workouts that give me the most calories burned for less time spent at the gym. Coming up the first week of May is softball season - Yippy! Not a big calorie burner but a fun recreation. I've lost 8.5 lbs. I asked my husband how much he's lost and he doesn't know since he didn't weight himself at the start (Grrrr). My son has lost about 8 lbs. The eating part is the challenging part of this lifestyle change. But we're getting there!

May 1, 2008 - My total weight lost for April is 7 lbs., just 3 lbs. shy of my goal for April. Now I'm onto May and my goal is 8 lbs. I've done some spring cleaning and goten rid of some goals. I wasn't 100% committed to them and decided to concentrate on the goals that are keeping me on track - tracking my calories and working out. My total weight loss to date is 15 lbs. I'm one-third of the way to my goal weight!

My Goals:
*8 lbs in May
*8 lbs in Jun
*8 lbs in Jul
*8 lbs in Aug

*Burn 600 cals, 6x wk
*Strength 1 set, 5x/wk alt upper/lower
*Run 5K or other race each mo.
*Walk after work 5x wk
*Walk/Jog to Softball Game 1x/wk
*Stretch after every workout

Past Goals:
*5 lbs by Mar 31 - actual loss: 7 lbs
*10 lbs in Apr - actual loss: 7 lbs

My Program:
I go to the gym 6 days a week and put in a minimum of 45 min. cardio, but average 60 minutes. I do strength training 2-3 days a week. My calorie range is 1260-1610 a day, but I'm working on keeping it at or below 1400. For motivation, my husband (who doesn't need to lose weight just get in shape) and I are working out together.

Personal Information:
I just turned 40 February 2008 and have two kids, a 13 year old and a 6 year old.

Other Information:
My kids motivate me. I want us to be a fit, healthy family. Some goals we're working on as a family include cutting back on soda, eat more fruits/vegies and exercise 3-4 times a week. My son goes to the gym with me, but my daughter is too young so she does 1 day of dance and 1 day of gymnastics (and PE at school).
