I first started Atkins back in January 2002. For the first four years, I didn't cheat once, not even on my birthdays, vacations or holidays. In October of that year, I joined a gym and started working out five days a week. I lost a lot of weight, most within the first year. I felt and looked great. Then one day, in March, 2006, I was making cupcakes for a birthday party, it ended up being the beginning of the end. Previously, I had baked and cooked foods that I wasn't allowed to eat, but for some reason this time was different, I wanted to eat it. I caved and ate one, just one cupcake. It was so sweet, it tasted awful and even made me feel sick. Yet, for some reason, I wanted more. Well, that was it, I was now totally off Atkins and eating everything I could get my hands on. In less than a month, I gained thirty pounds, but I just couldn't stop myself. By the end of the year, I gained all the weight back. I stayed fat for the next four years. Then at the end of August in 2010, I went back on Atkins and joined a gym. Once again, I was eating right and working out five days a week. By December, I lost forty pounds. Once again, I was back on track and feeling great, then in January 2011, I went on vacation to the Caribbean for two weeks. At first, I was very good. I ate right and even worked out in the gym. By the fifth day, I was eating everything in sight and didn't even think about going to the gym. When I returned home, I just threw in the towel and was back to my old habits. Well, here I am in 2013, fat and frustrated. They say the third time is a charm, for my sake, I hope so. My mini goal is NOT to overeat during the holidays. I must admit, I didn't make it through Thanksgiving, but I did very well for Christmas. Hopefully, all will go well for New Year's Eve too. Starting January 1, 2014, I will lose this weight and keep it off. Summer is coming and I don't want to sit on the sidelines while my friends and family have fun. I can and will do it!!!

I follow the Whole30 program. No dairy, artificial sweeteners, grains, sugar or processed foods.
