Update 1/1/11: two knee surgeries later and some fairly significant life drama in the last year, I've found the 30 pounds I lost (&$%!@) but I know what I have to do to take them back off. Exercise is absolutely the KEY for my motivation so I am thinking of creative ways to be kind to my knees, not spend a fortune at the gym and to be *consistent* with exercise.

I've thought a lot about how I lost that initial 30 pounds and I didn't do it by starving myself or working out all the time but I did stay within my calorie range and aimed to eat around 1600 calories (I've been on the high end of my calorie range for months and it shows) as well as daily exercise. I do exercise for about 4-5 hours each week these days but for me, the key is exercise EVERY SINGLE DAY.

I've been resting on my laurels for too long; going to Taekwondo class twice a week plus 3 more workouts a week is just not enough for me to lose weight. When I started SP the first thought I had every morning before opening my eyes was "What workout should I do today?" And boy was I good about putting that at the top of my list of things to do. So I'm starting over and going back to what I was doing what I began. :) : ) :)

+stay within calorie range---this means no crazy night time snacking! (My downfall)

+exercising 45 minutes each and every day. This works for me so this is what is best for MY body.

+drinking water consistently

Hi and welcome to my page! My name is Lisa and I love love love Spark People. I think it is the greatest thing since...well, ever! I am thrilled to have such a positive, thoughtful community to support me in my journey back to health! And can you believe it's free? I think everyone in America (and beyond) (who has access to a computer of course) should join Spark People. Just think of what a different place our country would be if we were all happy from our endorphin highs. :)

My original post in August 2008: This will take time and perseverance but the goal is to actually live the life I've been given. My ultimate goal is this: I want to feel vibrant!

My Goals:
to indeed be Superfit!

I've had two knee surgeries in the last two years and am now figuring out what my new norm is. It's difficult for me to not go overboard (I really like doing cardio every day but my knees don't) so I will figure out the best balance of strength training and cardio for my knees.

I'm also concentrating on not drinking so many calories and reducing the amount of sweets I consume in the evening.

My Program:
Logging my food on SP is absolutely key for me. It keeps me in check and allows me to look back at patterns I might have otherwise missed.

Personal Information:
Atlanta, Georgia

Other Information:
I love spending time reading books about living a healthful, happy, beautiful life.

I am married to a great guy and have two fabulous children. My husband and I are both librarians and I am choosing to stay at home with my kids until they are older.
