Introduction Text April 2018 Since this thing is actually sticking this time, I might as well write a new Intro! 2018 is the year I make some pretty significant changes in my life. I turned 40 this year and I decided enough is enough with the drinking and unhealthy eating. On March 26th, I put down the bottle and changed my eating to a whole plant based diet or at least a Vegan diet. I am cutting out all meat, dairy, eggs and processed food. I may not be 100% WPBD 100% of the time but I am not eating animal based proteins anymore. At first it was selfish reasons (weight loss) but as I've gone along and learned a lot about nutrition, the environmental impact of animal agriculture and the industrial food machine, I've really started to open my eyes and see what terriblness is going on in the world and frankly, I don't want to be part of it. I'm happy eating the way that I am and I'm proud to say that I'm going vegan. I've gotten a little ahead of myself here. This really all started the same way that it did last time in March of 2010 with my dad reaching out to me and inviting me on this journey with him. How could I say no? It was with his support that I was able to do it last time and together I know that we can do it together again. He has adopted a similar diet plan as me and is doing great. It's great to see such promising results from eating clean and naturally. So this is the year that I lose 50lbs, do my part for the environment and just live a healthier life. Scott 02Jan2017 Welp, another year is behind us and I can't say it was for the best. 2016 wasn't terrible but I didn't accomplish what I wanted and here I am, the biggest I've ever been in my life. But you know what? 2017 is here and I feel like this is the year that I take back my health. I am going to put together a plan to get healthy and just take it 1 day at a time. I have the love and support from my family and friends and the positive attitude to get me closer to my goals. If you are here reading this then I hope you will befriend me so that we can support and encourage each other on this journey. After all, that's what SP is all about! ********************** 25Jan2012 What a roller coaster ride this has been. 2011 was a write off as I wasn't able to maintain my weight loss and I saw some of the weight come back. It was a total eye opener for me because I thought I would be able to keep my new body without any hard work or proper nutrition. Nope. It doesn't work that way, apparently. So 2012 is going to be the year that I get back down to my goal weight and learn how to "Maintain" healthy habits. ******************* Updated 27August2010 I'm happy to say that I reached my goal weight of 162lbs. I honestly didn't think I would be able to do it but I worked really hard and I made some big life changes and most importantly I had tons of support on SP. I have great friends on this site who always support me and push me to challenge myself and work harder. Now I have the self image that I've always wanted and I'm not ashamed of my body. Thanks to everyone for all your help. Don't worry,I'm not going anywhere. It's time to pay it forward and help others reach their goals! ************************************************************* I joined this site for motivation and support. What I've found is so much more. This site gives me free access to tools which would otherwise cost me a small fortune in Canada. Being able to access such a wide array of support groups makes it easy to find people who I can relate to. My goal is to lose 30 lbs by August 1st. I started on March 1st. Wish me luck!

My 2017 goal is to get back down to my goal weight and practice healthy living full-time. I plan on taking it slowly by just tracking food and controlling my intake. When I feel ready, I plan on starting either Insanity or T25 again. I want to be comfortable in my body again and start doing the activities that I love again like biking, hiking, rollerblading and RUNNING! This is the year that I will make it happen.

SparkPeople is my program. It helps me keep track of my eating and my exercise and it allows me to find support from people with similar goals and lifestyles as me. The support is the most important aspect of the program. Without support, it is too easy to slip back into negative territory.

Updated 31 August 2010. I am revisiting my goals and challenging myself to do something more and something bigger and better. Now that I've lost my initial goal weight of 30 pounds I feel like I can do anything. I've still got weight to lose, though so let's go get'em...together.

I love mountain biking and roller blading. I have 3 small boys, so I don't have much time for extracurricular activities any more. Now that they are getting older I will look for ways to incorporate them into my fitness routines and outdoor activities. I wish I lived somewhere warmer cuz you can't bike or rollerblade in the snow @ -30 celcius!
