I want to grow old with my husband and have fun and be active the whole time. He has been a great motivator for me to get in shape.

I am in maintenance. It's not the goal weight that I set at the beginning of the journey, but it is what I can maintain and feel healthy. When I started, I didn't think I'd be working with a trainer 3 days/week as long as I have (18 months as of writing.) I look great. I am incredibly strong. I'm out of pain most days. If I manage to lose a few more pounds, I'm fine with that. I'm no longer stressing it. My trainer keeps telling me that I'm in the healthy range for body fat/lean muscle mass and I'm getting close to the athletic range. I can't argue with that. My new goal is to be competitive in the NJ State Triathlon in July 2017. Not sure I'll make it given my injuries, but I'm trying. Stay tuned, Sparkers. (May 2017)

I am close to my goal weight. I have recovered from a debilitating back injury and now I am stronger and more fit than I ever was. However, the pain of that injury and the many, many months of working with a physical therapist, physical trainer and registered dietitian has taught me a strong lesson in not ignoring pain and taking care of the body that I am blessed to have. I will never again take for granted my ability to walk. (Sept. 2016)

Alas, I have fallen prey to the perils of arthritis and back injury. This has resulted in more than a year of reduced activity for me and significant weight gain. I am very frustrated and scared of a lifetime of obesity and pain. So I am embarking on a commitment to intense physical therapy and training coupled with nutrition counseling to lose the weight that is making my pain worse. My husband is right by my side doing whatever he can to make this work. I am counting on my spark friends to be there, too. There is no place like SparkPeople for support and motivation. You are so right! The difficult times in our lives, no matter how unpleasant, will strengthen us. You realize that and that gives you a stronghold in Christ. Faith! When satan make us feel hopeless, he is a liar! Christ is our strength and His grace and power will get us through anything.
II Corinthians 12: 9-10 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. Thank you Lord!

Sorry to hear that! Anxiety will zap the very strength out of you until you can't function. Sometimes we cannot change our situations. We have to learn to become calm and have trust in the Lord. It isn't easy to do, because as human-beings we tend to fret. Another thing as human-beings we want to control our situations. When we can't then anger, anxiety, depression and a whole host of negative things set in. I have found when I do these things I have given the Devil a stronghold in my life. Anxiety is one of his favor things to torment us with. He can then attack our health, family, and our closeness to God. I have found comfort in the Bible. If you don't mind I can give you a few verses that helped me in times like these. Psalm 18:1-3, II Samuel 22: 2-4, Deuteronomy 31:8 (this is my favorite when I feel anxious). If you want me to type these verses out for you let me know. These can give you strength in knowing that God is there for you. Talk to God often. He is there waiting. I have prayed for you after I read you response. Remember balance doesn't come easy. We have to learn and practice it. Balance is planning (goals, food and exercise trackers for example). Balance is being aware of what affects you and knowing when to counterbalance those negative things that throws you off. When there is stress you must find your calm. I find mind in Christ and the Bible. Also read Ephesians 6:10-18. All these verses helps you in a time of stress and anxiety. Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let you requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds with Christ Jesus. God bless you and I hope you start feeling better soon.

I'm paying the price today, though. I don't think it's fair that only 2 cocktails over FOUR hours gives me a hangover!
